If it's Potter then it's Potter, not my pick but let's see. What he did here Sweden is noteworthy and quite special. And when I look at that Brighton squad there some are very average/mediocre to bad players there IMO. If he's a bit more tactically adept than Martinez, at least, he would do okay here, football doesn't have to be beautiful all the time.

Problem is we also have average to bad players here.

I wouldn’t mind Potter coming to be honest, he can get rid of the highly paid wasters we have and replace them with hard working players who can string more than two passes together. Maybe he could bring Bissouma and Ben White with him.
I'll get out in front here and say we do not need to overpay for anyone at Brighton. Bissouma, Lamptey, White, Trossard and whoever else are all decent players but no one there is so good that we can't find a similar skillset elsewhere at a better price.

As soon as Ancelotti jumped ship a Kopite mate sent me a message that he was looking around for odds that we'd play our first game at Bramley in the Championship,Howe...
Your mate obviously has more confidence in Howe then I do. Howe won't last beyond Christmas if we're stupid enough to employ him let alone long enough to see us play at Bramley-Moore, presuming that the place ever gets built! :(

My biggest worry is patience. He'll make progress but it might be slow to be reflecting in the results. And if there is one thing I've learned over the last year it is that Evertonians have a very tough time with patience and looking past the result. We have to learn or at least the club has to hold its nerve and tell us to do one if we can't. Otherwise Potter or basically anyone else we choose is going to fall short of where we really want to go.
The issue is the demands of the club are to be in the top half minimum and ideally fighting for a EL place regardless of long term plans and rebuilds you need a coach who can get a baseline of results whilst rebuilding.

If it is Potter, I don’t want him to become a shield for a lack of investment in the squad. Sure he might have a passing style of football but there is no escaping that if you’re any to compete with the top 4 long term you need to match the types of squad they have.

That means quality players in every position and on the bench.

Pace power and technique throughout the squad and no slow players to immediately replace an injured first teamer.

Exactly this for me. If he had shown some season on season progression that would be a major tick in the box for him. It would be a major risk for Everton, not saying it wouldn’t pay off but as it stands it’s a far riskier appointment than Santo Moyes or Dyche would be.

People can use the striker excuse but Welbeck isn’t that bad a striker, and if Maupay is being selected ahead of him he can’t be and either. I can’t remember many games where they missed hosts of chances, so it’s never really as simple as a like for like swap. Most decent strikers score if given enough chances. Our two aren’t that great and have still bagged a fair few goals in teams that haven’t created much so I don’t fully buy the ‘he just needs a striker’ argument.
Spot on we need at least a bit more of a record he may be promising as a coach with a nice style of play but 15th and 16th in the league with a 25% win rate isn't impressing me. I know it's Brighton but still they have spent money on that squad.

The Moyes brigade, FFS. No surprise it's mostly made up of fans who are early 20s or younger, people who don't remember him much and just judge his tenure on league finishes. As if he could be like Jupp Heynckes at Bayern, someone who enjoyed unparalleled success in his heyday and returned as caretaker whenever needed and always righted the ship.

He did well all things considered but by the final few years his flaws became impossible to live with. Bottling every big game, showing no ambition away from home, talking to the fanbase like we were all idiots whenever he was questioned, playing favourites who shouldn't have been in the team, never giving youth players any look-in.

No, the club has moved on mentally. In 6 months when West Ham have dropped off massively I'll be proven right.
Moved on mentally'? Are you having a laugh. We've moved on from top 6/7 to 12th and 10th

We need the NEXT Moyes for sure but it's laughable to try and downplay what he did here. We'll have done a decent job if we replicate the last few Moyes seasons even if they did get a bit stale and that's the sad reality of it. If we've moved on mentally then it's only backwards given some of us are seemingly happy with 12th/10th as long as it's a shiny name at the helm. Now that's mediocrity

from Carlo Ancelotti, to Graham Potter.

Everton that.
They are very different. Ancelotti is not a coach, he's a manager who gets to know players as people and keeps them happy. Potter is a coach. All of the players will have specific tactical instructions and be able to play in several systems. He won't be mates with the players and he won't be signing them or having a cosy relationship with super agents, he will be coaching them.

Put it this way we appoint Potter and are languishing in the bottom half come Christmas he won't get any more time than Silva regardless of rebuilds and projects we need a baseline.

If it's potter I can't see it being a quick fix to change the style of this Everton squad will take time Carlo said a few times they can only play deep without possession plus you have to be brave to take the ball in certain areas are lads are definitely not that
