Spot on we need at least a bit more of a record he may be promising as a coach with a nice style of play but 15th and 16th in the league with a 25% win rate isn't impressing me. I know it's Brighton but still they have spent money on that squad.
Better qualifications than Martinez had

The Moyes brigade, FFS. No surprise it's mostly made up of fans who are early 20s or younger, people who don't remember him much and just judge his tenure on league finishes. As if he could be like Jupp Heynckes at Bayern, someone who enjoyed unparalleled success in his heyday and returned as caretaker whenever needed and always righted the ship.

He did well all things considered but by the final few years his flaws became impossible to live with. Bottling every big game, showing no ambition away from home, talking to the fanbase like we were all idiots whenever he was questioned, playing favourites who shouldn't have been in the team, never giving youth players any look-in.

No, the club has moved on mentally. In 6 months when West Ham have dropped off massively I'll be proven right.
Not a fan of a Moyes appointment but when the chips were down West Ham made Europe and we under the great Ancelotti gave Agüero a leaving party. Let's no rewrite history we played some decent stuff under Moyes.

Sure my worry is Potter wouldn't achieve that based on his record so far.
He would. As much as people seem to think our squad is now one of the worst around it isn't, and just because a has been manager decided he couldn't be bothered to try and make something out of it doesn't mean that there isn't still some pieces that can be worked with.

If it's potter I can't see it being a quick fix to change the style of this Everton squad will take time Carlo said a few times they can only play deep without possession plus you have to be brave to take the ball in certain areas are lads are definitely not that
With 3 or 4 additions we could play that type of football. Get a new right back, centre half, centre mid and right side forward and we'd be ok. I'd take top 10 if we played more attractive football rather than the turgid rubbish we've played for the last few years.

Moved on mentally'? Are you having a laugh. We've moved on from top 6/7 to 12th and 10th

We need the NEXT Moyes for sure but it's laughable to try and downplay what he did here. We'll have done a decent job if we replicate the last few Moyes seasons even if they did get a bit stale and that's the sad reality of it. If we've moved on mentally then it's only backwards given some of us are seemingly happy with 12th/10th. Now that's mediocrity

I never buy the argument of the last few seasons going stale it just didn’t happen.

Moyes built his first team to peak in about 04/05 and the 4th place finish, that was the best of the squad he inherited with some early additions playing a certain style.

He then evolved that and brought in another team that peaked between 07-10 with the European qualifications and the cup final.

After this though he had the three cruciate injuries and then the sales of Lescott Arteta Yakubu Saha Pienaar. At one point he could only bring in Stracq and Drenthe on loan and we went a whole year without a permanent transfer in.

From the pit of that though, he sold Rodwell, used the money to get Jelavic Mirallas Gibson and Naismith and before you knew it we weee back to finishing above Liverpool in both his last two seasons and would ah e qualified for Europe if Wigan and Swansea didn’t win the cups. He then had Stones transferring in, Oviedo, and Barkley coming through.

How was it going stale? He was on another upward curve with the team.

No mate. Sorry but you're Everton not the bloody FA when they picked Southgate. If you're not happy with those options then widen your net. Be creative. Every coach in the world wants to manage a PL club. Probably. The Big 6 domination is now really only the Big 4 and they've not looked this vulnerable in years. There's Villa, Leicester, West Ham, Leeds all with realistic ambitions of a top 7 place like yourselves and you've got a squad at least equal to all those bar Leicester.
This. Takes a fan of another club to come in here and speak the truth.

Not sure on that I know he got relegated at Wigan but that was after quite a few seasons(with Swansea too)and a cup win. Also that isn't an argument for Potter who is a Martinez disciple by all accounts.
Nothing wrong with believing in the high pressing fast passing style of Martinez. Just don't sign terrible players in defence.

Dont agree with that. Silva got relegated with a side and he looked clueless. I dont think he had any good coaching qualities at all. We couldnt keep a clean sheet under him with his terrible zonal marking.
Poor shout that one.

I just think Potters over rated mate.

Moist never had a striker and finished 4th with us

Potter apparently doesn't have a striker at brighton and finished 16th.

Levels...

He would. As much as people seem to think our squad is now one of the worst around it isn't, and just because a has been manager decided he couldn't be bothered to try and make something out of it doesn't mean that there isn't still some pieces that can be worked with.
Fair and every option is a gamble I am just yet to be convinced but if he gets it I hope he succeeds of course...

They are very different. Ancelotti is not a coach, he's a manager who gets to know players as people and keeps them happy. Potter is a coach. All of the players will have specific tactical instructions and be able to play in several systems. He won't be mates with the players and he won't be signing them or having a cosy relationship with super agents, he will be coaching them.
he also won't be winning any Champions Leagues any time soon.

Welcome Graham.

Potter's Swansea was great to watch at times. Many people tend to forget that, but he did a good work there.

Impressive.

The only issue is it needs accurate 1 touch passing and energetic running into space. Complete reset needed to play anything like that level of attacking football.

That second goal is absolutely incredible. (unless you're a Park Ender)

the fact you're not spitting feathers makes me think he's not that great. i remember we were sniffing around Nuno a couple of years ago, and we were deluged with shreiking wolves.
I'm not spitting feathers because it's a fact of life for a club our size. We're used to it. I've only ever lost it over a transfer and that's when Murray went to Palace. And I lost it big time. Understandable that Wolves fans were spitting feathers. They say they're a club of comparable size to you.
