Not a fan of a Moyes appointment but when the chips were down West Ham made Europe and we under the great Ancelotti gave Agüero a leaving party. Let's no rewrite history we played some decent stuff under Moyes.
We did play some great football at times and that is not acknowledged enough however he bottled all the big games and you were just waiting to concede in all of them. The only one he won was the semi final against United. They played half a team and we scraped home on pens. Suppose we will never know what would have happened in the final if we didn’t get all those injuries

I'm not necessarily advocating Potter, but if we are going down the younger faster players from lower leagues etc we need a good tactical coach rather than a big name manager like Conte.

if it is hope he brings that Bousouma lad with him, I'm sure I have that a good crack with the spelling to.:)

Bissouma and White....also Lamptey if he gets back to normal after his lengthly hamstring injury.

Those 3 would complete our first 11 if we played 3 at the back.

Exactly this for me. If he had shown some season on season progression that would be a major tick in the box for him. It would be a major risk for Everton, not saying it wouldn’t pay off but as it stands it’s a far riskier appointment than Santo Moyes or Dyche would be.

People can use the striker excuse but Welbeck isn’t that bad a striker, and if Maupay is being selected ahead of him he can’t be and either. I can’t remember many games where they missed hosts of chances, so it’s never really as simple as a like for like swap. Most decent strikers score if given enough chances. Our two aren’t that great and have still bagged a fair few goals in teams that haven’t created much so I don’t fully buy the ‘he just needs a striker’ argument.
They hit the woodwork about 5 times against utd and lost the game by a penalty given by var after the final whistle had gone

My biggest worry is patience. He'll make progress but it might be slow to be reflecting in the results. And if there is one thing I've learned over the last year it is that Evertonians have a very tough time with patience and looking past the result. We have to learn or at least the club has to hold its nerve and tell us to do one if we can't. Otherwise Potter or basically anyone else we choose is going to fall short of where we really want to go.

Agree with that iv e been preaching patience for the last five years and six managers ago.

There's lots of other names that are available but not currently in the picture it would seem. Fonseca, Favre, Amorim, Gallardo. Basically anyone who can stick to a system and progress a team with the caveat being the system needs room to grow. So no Nuno or Dyche. Stauch defending is not a we're pushing the CL style in 2021.
I feel a Brands “rabbit out the hat” moment approaching.

If not then I’d settle for Potter

I never buy the argument of the last few seasons going stale it just didn’t happen.

Moyes built his first team to peak in about 04/05 and the 4th place finish, that was the best of the squad he inherited with some early additions playing a certain style.

He then evolved that and brought in another team that peaked between 07-10 with the European qualifications and the cup final.

After this though he had the three cruciate injuries and then the sales of Lescott Arteta Yakubu Saha Pienaar. At one point he could only bring in Stracq and Drenthe on loan and we went a whole year without a permanent transfer in.

From the pit of that though, he sold Rodwell, used the money to get Jelavic Mirallas Gibson and Naismith and before you knew it we weee back to finishing above Liverpool in both his last two seasons and would ah e qualified for Europe if Wigan and Swansea didn’t win the cups. He then had Stones transferring in, Oviedo, and Barkley coming through.

How was it going stale? He was on another upward curve with the team.
Yep definitiely only became a narrative to suit the fact we were a bit angry at him. Yes Moyes did things to make us moan sometimes but that's just standard blues and footy fans in general always wanting abit more...
