Dream scenario we appoint Conte. Only manager available that I think is a genuine step up from carlo. Can't see it happening tho
Only way we’d get even near Conte would be if the other available positions filled up which they might, a boatload of cash to him and another boatload for his transfers. Even then it’d be a tough sell.

He did take over Chelsea who were in an awful spot at that time but that was clearly a blip for them, for us we’ve been consistently poor.

Unfortunately the smart move for him would be waiting until something else opens up next year I’d say.

I thought Villas Boas before when the question was asked. Before Poch put himself on the market if rumours believed.

honest impartial opinion on him? Was a very young manager.. but now with very good experience...

Do we settle for someone with a ceiling for 3 or 4 years and hope they are a transitional appointment only or do we go for potential?

I don't think we'll be attracting the likes of Conte or Poch.

I find it genuinely to be a dilemma. I would always hope that a manager can really grow with us but at the same time if we get it wrong yet again, and with this bunch of players, the consequences could be catastrophic with the stadium on the horizon.

I think Sean Dyche would be worth a serious look this time. We would get honest, organized football from him and whilst it isn't what we would hope for in the best case scenario, I wouldn't mind some stability at least for a while and he doesn't get the credit he deserves.
We don't need a period of Dyche to figure things out. We aren't so bad that we'll go down or something. We can start building now without wasting time with that mess.

David Moyes. He knows Everton inside and out. He'd invest his heart and sole in the job. His confidence is high. He'd build something here. Throw in the resources we have now and we would progress.

To hell with another foreign mercenary.

Once bitten twice shy with expensive managers but I would potentially throw money at Conte if Spurs get Poch.

if that fails I would go for Dunc and Dyche in that order

Sadly I think this is where Conte is going
Not sure about that Conte is famously a bit difficult for the board to deal with and PSGs board are also famously difficult for managers. Match made in hell for them I reckon.

A lot of names mentioned here intrigue me. Pochettino and Conte are the best options but probably also unrealistic. Of the ones that make more sense Favre, Potter and the guy from Lille seem decent enough. I'd have to go deeper into it to actually pick the best one. I also don't hate the Gallardo idea but getting him to leave Argentina might take some doing and is a risk with him having very limited European experience.
Nice one mate. I rate and value your opinion.

Be curious who @catcherintherye and @Eggs would go for to? What you think lads?

Personally I think there is a bit of an attitude problem at the club, I want someone to come and stamp it out of the club, we need a strong manager who can cultivate the best from the players but stamp out the bottling culture at the club, ideally someone who knows the ropes of the PL. personally I’m prepared to forgo style for substance, putting in place baseline fundamentals in terms of attitude and values. We’ve flattered to deceive for to long.

Bielsa, Poch, Moyes - in that order would be my picks.

Left field and I haven’t seen his name mentioned, if we decided for once in our lives to imbed a long term philosphey, what about someone like Farke.

Why does everyone think we can’t get a decent manager?

Three of our recent managers have gone on to take charge of Barcelona, Real and Belgium.

I’m sure we’ll get someone decent.
