Never heard of him myself, but they do love their netball in USA and apparently he is very high profile over the pond.
People moaned that the club didn't take the most advantage of Landon Donovan and Tim Howard to raise our profile in America. 🤷‍♂️
He's also a wife beater as it appears...

I don’t know if there’s that much to it to be honest. It’s maybe just as simple as it seems, him investing in the club rather than being an actual story. I doubt there’s much in the way of crossover or much he can pass on in terms of achievement - ‘hey guys, have you tried, you know, winning?’. I’m not American so maybe I’m wrong but I’m not sure he’s that big a name that he brings much interest. He’s certainly not the type of name that’s ever crossed the Atlantic in the way that the seriously big names do. It could genuinely just be that he wanted to invest in a sports team and the friedkins work out for him, i sort of hope there’s no more to it than that or it starts to get a bit hokey to be honest - I just can’t see how him giving motivational speeches is going to help a 62 year old old school manager out.

Yes that's fair. I'll be honest it was just a comment from Watts that led me to that view, where he spoke of a winning culture. People from other sports who have been successful can also bring different perspectives too.

I mean, I don't think that really translates down to the day to day detail of the manager. At most it will be in the background, but it still has some use.

He has crossed the Atlantic and he's well known... if you follow/know basketball.

LeBron/MJ/Shaq he's definitely not, but Americans I'd wager mostly know him - he's in the NBA hall of fame and had a pretty impressive career as a player, and a pretty meme career as a coach so far. It seems to be on all the American sports outlets/sites, even more so the Texas/Dallas ones - as I mentioned, I'm a Mavericks supporter and this is all over the news. It's decent exposure in a rather big "market", as it will generate interest, but even then everyone's just mentioning it and asking the same as us - "but why?"

I assume he's a 1% "investor" or something similar with no power over anything obviously. I also assume we'll see a lot of Dallas Mavericks cross-marketing in the near future.
