I don’t think they have performed particularly well at Roma . After a promising start under Mourinho they have seem to have changed strategy which is indicative of learning on the job.
They (or their CEO) appear to have mishandled the De Rossi dismissal poorly and have needlessly increased doubts about their ability to run a football club.
They need to raise their game and perhaps deepen their understanding of the game generally, I think .

Apparently De Rossi was becoming very difficult to work with, doesn’t matter how popular they are if that person is detrimental to the operation of the club they have to go.

What worries me is who he was replaced with which looks like a poor appointment, not sure the Friedkins hand pick him though.

Italian mentality to these sorts of thing is different to that of the English mentality, they seem overly emotionally attached to former players way more than we do or at least that’s my perception.

Can you imgine the fans going mental when say Duncan Ferguson left the club ?

I've read bits and pieces about the Friedkins not wanting to be swayed by fan pressure, it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Roberto Mancini is in the running for the job, not sure how that would go down with his Lazio connections.

Whomever they get, at this stage it needs to be a big name who will carry weight. Allegri or Mancini would seem to fit that bill. Someone who can just settle things down again and make the game to game sense of crisis go away.

It's not easy. A bigger name like that, and it probably goes against the wishes of the DoF to appoint a coach. An Allegri or Mancini will want bigger budgets and less emphasis on player development and scouting. If it goes wrong, before you know it you're in the cycle that TFG now seem to find themselves in.

Their biggest issue has been recruitment. It has been poor at all levels. They have undoubtedly improved Roma as a business, but not the results business by and large. Most fans have little interest in knowing the balance sheet and the shape of the accounts.

The Lampard story can’t be true. You’d have to be stark raving mad to appoint him

Concern is they haven't reached the CL since they bought the club (they were in it regularly before and reached semis in 2018).

They've dined out on the Conference League win but even Fiorentina on lesser budget reached the last 2 finals and Atalanta won the Europa League last season on a much lower budget.

No progress on a much mooted new stadium either. Their ownership there has gone off the rails this year with what would be 3 managerial sackings.

Unless things are dire, I don’t think they’ll be in the market for a new manager until the summer, either.

Might see movement in the DoF role depending on if Thelwell wants out or they’ve got someone lined up, but I reckon all the main changes will be executive-level stuff.
