If/when they get this over the line, it's going to be one of hell of a job. The entire culture within the club needs an overhaul. They'll be battling against 30+ years of chronic mismanagement. Everything needs to be changed.

The club as we know it won't survive another 10 years like the past decade. Yes the stadium is potentially a big boost, but not if we can carry on the way we have done since the formation of the Premier League. If after 5 years we are still languishing in the same position or worse, the ground will be filled with empty seats. You can't be as bad as we have been for so long and expect to retain your fanbase.
The combination of takeover and new stadium is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a brand new club.

And that's what's required.

The culture has to be flushed from the club because it is a "plucky", "we had good times", "what would the Everton board do?" culture of fake modesty, shoestring investment, low ambition, underachievement, and charitable deflection.

New stadium, new owners, new club.

The Everton we loved died, pretty much, around the time Neville Southall sat at that goal post, which, coincidentally, was around the time somebody joined our board and ate the club from within for the next 35 years. We had echoes of that great Everton since, but they faded quickly. We were a top club. If our new vision is not to be a top club again, then it's over anyway.

That one man was the most negative influence on the club in its entire history. I hope for a world in which we don't even have to talk about the damage he did because we're looking forward to regaining our status. Sadly that's not the case right now.

Good times.

Echo this. The recent kite flying in respect of Panda man was a dry run where Prentice and his contacts were testing the water for fan reactions.

Expect the same with Mr Good times once the stadium is ready and stand / suite naming etc is being discussed.

Keep Kev (until he’s done enough wrong to warrant sacking) bin Dychosaurus at the earliest opportunity - ie as soon as we are mathematically safe.
NB I don't think we will get relegated under Dyche, just that the best we can expect is 10th (albeit not this season)

He unequivocally backed Dyche in his last big interview earlier in the season. Telling us what a good job he was doing.

Whether Thelwell goes or he doesn't remains to be seen I'd sack him for that alone.

Not sure when that was but if it was one or two games into the season he was surely backing him after last season?
Besides he’s hardly going to throw him under the bus in a media puff piece, but if there wasn’t at least something to the effect of ‘we want to do better’, ‘kick on’ etc, I’d be surprised.
All managers are doing a good job until there’re not, then the axe falls.
Dyche did well under unprecedented circumstances last season. That’s now a closed book and he needs to show improvement or I’ve no doubt he’ll be out and Thewell will be influential in selecting his replacement (unless TFG sack them both)

They have now booted out another Roma manager

…Mancini linked this morning.

Couple of things to take from this;

1) They don’t hesitate in firing a manager. Things often get worst before they get better so it’s not always a good sign.
2) Their judgement and process used in identifying new managers is clearly flawed. They need to sack the specialist advisors they use to hire key personnel before they take us over.
