New Everton Stadium

Ok fair enough. But I'm only going from my own experience. Those that have heard of Everton are not even sure where Everton is.
Yeah I'd have no problem with Liverpool being in the name somewhere but I think it's more of a local thing, I just don't think its much of an issue overseas. And in this money driven business, we have to sell our brand and name around the world.

If the stadium is to be built on the docks, you can guarantee every time we're on live, the cameras will pan over the stadium taking in Liverpool's Historic Docks, focusing on large ships on the Mersey etc. This then goes out Worldwide and puts the club firmly on the World map and our association with the city of Liverpool. You can guarantee they'll even pan over to FC Big stands ground.

I can confirm that many young football fans here in the Czech Republic don't know we are from Liverpool. But who cares if city name is in the name of the football club. Juventus, Internazionale, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham or Ajax... and everybody knows them...

That's the point is was trying to make mate. I want Everton to be known the world over for being Everton. You can't get a bigger brand than that.

The Mersey also runs through Manchester and Stockport
As a proud Stopfordian, I can tell you that the Mersey actually starts in Stockport where the rivers Goyt and Tame join, just below Merseyway shopping centre. It skirts past but doesn't run through Manchester; that'd be the Irwell.
Not that this has much relevance to the new stadium discussion mind!

It is relevant if people are wanting the name Mersey in the stadium name my implication is that it isn't solely a Liverpool river ..... Plus their ferry cross the Mersey song would make any use of the name of the river no matter how much I love it inappropriate for us blues

Do we know how much the RS spent taking a revamped Anfield to a 54,000 capacity?

Which means, for our part, that the new stadium has to be at least 55k, because we have to be making an important statement here. But are we brave enough to go to 60k in the first instance?

115 mill. for the new Main Stand. Also think they'll increase their capacity to 59.000-61.000 "if" or "when" the Anfield Road end get ravamped.

Sorry, but the fact is given that the Premier League has never been more popular around the world than now, we're probably better known than we were in the 80's. Strange but true.
Things may have changed in the intervening years, but when I was in SE Asia in 2004, they knew Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal. That was it. I mentioned I was an Everton fan and was met with the blankest of blank stares.

Generalisation alert, but the nouveau fans care only about the team they support, and do very little research into the league they play in, and the teams in that league. I guarantee there's tons of football 'fans' across the world who may have seen the name Everton, but that's pretty much where it stops. They won't have a clue which city we're in.

I didnt know Juventus were from Turin when I was younger. Probably wasnt until Italian football got all popular in the 90s (?) when C4 got us all interested in it that I found out.
