New Everton Stadium

Football culture in the UK will always be in and out, no way will football fans turn up a few hours before and stay a few hours after - this only happen at finals and fans will normally disperse straight after.

Fans will only stay in the near vicinity if there's plenty of pubs with low prices.

I don't know, the fan zone is always packed before games at Goodison. I agree that most will get off straight after but if there was a proper fan zone with good facilities, plus we had a good location, then I'd bet you'd get at least a few thousand down a few hours before KO.

True, I suppose the real task is to get facilities within the stadium zone.

I always wondered why none of the premier league clubs built their own huge building which had plenty of bars and entertainment in them

Some of the old Man United players have built that hotel just next to OT partly to exploit that. They have a huge out of town support who will use the hotel but the bars, being themed as Man Utd legend bars with classic matches playing etc., are packed before every game. All it takes is some clever design and the crowds will come.

A proper fan zone with elements for families and elements for people who want a proper pre match drink would be packed in my opinion. If people are having to change their pre match drinking and eating habits with a stadium move then the club needs to be ready to supply from day one or fans will find a new routine and then it will be tough to capture that market.

The fan zone at GP has to compete with a lot of local pubs and it is not the most attractive being rather squeezed in and open to the elements. A bigger zone, with better facilities and some roofing etc., in an area with fewer pubs nearby is a different proposition altogether.

That building they planned on doing outside the park end would have been good for that

I remember going to Nuremburg, well sort of remember as I was wasted.
They had something similar to our fan zone outside their ground but bigger.
There was marquee's,live bands, steins and hot food....was well impressed.
Both sets of fans mingling and having a great time.
Hope we do something like this

I know our new stadium will have a big public area outside with activities, bars and behind the south stand inside the stadium a big open atrium with bars and food places etc. And a little time later the area between WHL station and the stadium will become a pedestrianised walkway with more of the same. The same thought process went into this as people are speculating about here - more money into the club if people stay for longer, and it helps with transport too, not to mention making the area more alive on non match days. It'd be stupid if Everton/Moshiri/the council didn't try something like that because if it works it's win-win, especially if you do end up with a waterside location.

Maybe more relevent, the plans for AS Roma's new stadium by the architect purported to be designing your new place have a huge outside fan-zone area, big screens, bars etc.

So - if rumours are to be believed - everything points in that direction. The club needs to maximise revenue, the council won't want the area to be dead on non matchdays and Meis has experience designing this kind of stadium/surrounds.

I mooted that idea many pages back, like a larger scale o2, with an enclosed avenue of bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues incorporated into the stadium design meaning you don't have to leave the venue to continue your boozing. So long as it's not just a string of All Bar One's and Slug & Lettuce's, but proper appealing pubs, I think it would really work.

One thing that occurred to me when viewing the Roma ground was the addition of a much smaller stadium alongside the main one . If this could be done it could be used by u23s ,youth teams ,woman's team and training sessions. This would increase the regular usage of the area making it more attractive to other business's coming to the area. It could also provide the council with a useable stadium for the commonwealth games bid.

It seems we are getting the council to build us a 7k stadium at Finch Farm for the u23's etc.

True I'd forgotten about that. Shame though . I used go to the reserves with my Dad and Uncle when I was a kid, they had season tickets so it was free I think. When I got my own ST , I used go on the odd occasions I wasn't at the away match. Haven't been much since they stopped playing at Goodison. I used to take my two youngest to the woman's games a few years back but stopped when they left Crosby. I always liked the idea of places like the Nou Camp with a number of stadia in one area. Nevermind.
