New Everton Stadium

Given the fact that a planning application will be in the public domain anyway, I still can't see why they won't announce the land purchase at the AGM, or sometime soon.

And surely the land purchase will be in the company accounts, and will have to be explained as part of this?

I'm not overly impatient for an "announcement" but the land purchase is a material development towards a new stadium and each stage should be acknowledged, it doesn't commit them to anything outside of the normal conditions. They can't say nothing for the next 2-3 years.

Planning applications can get 'called in' by the Secretary of State under certain circumstances usually where the decision has a greater than local impact, or where special groups, interested parties and residents apply. Effectively the decision is then taken away from the local authority.

It's difficult to see why a stadium at BM would be called in given its location and positive regeneration effect.

What about the Kopites? They'll try anything to stop Everton moving to a state of the art stadium on the Liverpool waterfront.

What ive been saying long time. Just watch how they will somehow sabotage this. Or atleast try.

In the same way that planning applications have to pass stringent tests, so too do planning objections. You cant just write in on a pre prepared RAWK letter just making stuff up.

Any foreseeable problems would already have been "discussed" with the relevant people, so unless we find the Holy Grail when we dig/drain the site, reckon while it will not be speedy, I would be astonished if anything prohibitive crops up.

And that reference to the Holy Grail will obviously now scupper the whole flaming thing.

I doubt very much we'd buy the land without play planing permission, it must surely be an agreement to buy once planning is granted so I wouldn't expect to the see big lump sum showing in the accounts.

Wouldnt make much sense would it? Well any sense at all.
