New Everton Stadium

Planning applications can get 'called in' by the Secretary of State under certain circumstances usually where the decision has a greater than local impact, or where special groups, interested parties and residents apply. Effectively the decision is then taken away from the local authority.

It's difficult to see why a stadium at BM would be called in given its location and positive regeneration effect.

I'm not repeating my earlier link to the story but I mentioned here a few weeks back that the new proposed AFC Wimbledon stadium back in Merton will not be called in by the Sec.of State, who said in his letter to the club that it was govt policy to allow local leaders make the decisions wherever possible, reflecting the desires of the community blah blah.

....possibly even voles.

On the basis we have agreed subject to planning permission, I'm pretty sure there'll be a note in the accounts to that effect.
But what a disappointing way to get such information into the public domain. Via a footnote on an annual report. Yes there's reports of Meis designing a stadium, yes there's been photos of Mosh on the waterfront, but still none of that is concrete explicit evidence of our chosen site. It'd be a dreadful shame if confirmation were to come out in such an indirect way.

I suspect they'll make an announcement before the accounts - noone is expecting to hear via a footnote as you say.

It would be a dreadful shame if it was confirmed we were going to the other place.......

Couldn't give a flying one where a successful Everton team is playing. Even got a couple of spare jumpers for the goalposts if required. Before anyone has a go just think how far this fantastic fan base is prepared to travel for even a hint of success (I am assuming foreign lager and brasses ain't the main attraction)
