New Everton Stadium

Was talk surrounding IBM becoming a sponsor of Everton a while back, maybe, just maybe they'll be apart of this, Stadium Naming Rights... IBM Arena. Not the worst, but not the best.

Talks about talks and a planning application in a year ('hopefully').

Not happening - smoke and mirrors.

It suits the council and club's politics.

The club will never settle the stadium issue under Kenwright and his backers.

At this stage no plan, no design, no financing outlined, they might as well be say having a site and the council on board are all the club needs to attract a takeover because thats all it seems to be at present. Still your looking at someone picking up the tab for a 200m build on top of the sale price for a new owner. Buying more time at best for me.

They just need to sell the club and let someone else come in with the dough and vision to get this done first time.

I reckon it'll be called the Chang Arena and Elstone will come out boasting that he got Chang to give us an extra fiver a year for the next 20 years.

It won't be a Tesco-Dome...It'll be a Sainsburys-Dome. Remember there were claims that in August 2007 that Siansburys put an offer on the table to build in Walton Hall Park but Bill and the boys were hell bent on Kirkby and it petered out

Even the most vocal supporter of our current board would struggle to argue a case against what you say. Experience tells us that our delivery record for a scheme of any scale is zero

I do think (against my better judgement) that there's more to this particular scheme. I think the involvment of the council and LMH as partners suggests that the scheme is well advanced, at least as a concept. I would think that there won't be any more details released until the process of the consultation has been properly carried out. Once that is done and everyone has had their say we might start getting more details including designs and financing (ahem)

When it comes to naming rights, please be a technology firm or a posh airline or something. When you start entering the realm of food/drink companies or supermarkets etc, things start getting a bit gammy. Imagine the Findus arena, Rustlers stadium or the Lidldome.

*shudders*

There is more chance of you juggling soot and plaiting fog than it being the Chang Arena !!!!!

Could we see a hotel built next to the ground? Many possibilities with all that space available..a major work

All that space - by the time you factor in the very necessary additional access roads, car and coach parking and my guess some kind of retail development as well, all that space will be very restricted.
