New Everton Stadium

Let's be realistic here there are 'x' number of viable sites within the city. You do need rather substational space you can't really just plonk a stadium any where, and with each of these I have no doubt that the club would have whittled down the different variables that make the option viable or not.

Transport links, expansion, existiting development, planning and environmental issues. All of these will have been addressed in the lead up to Kirkby and I doubt since then any more plots of land within the City have just turned up. The main issue we have is funding, Kirkby was essentially going ahead because of Tesco, but as we all know that was actually a web of lies.

If the council is to be involved then there is no way they'd get on board without there being a long term income to them and the people of Liverpool. So they'll be wanting the best option for themselves but we'll most probably be after the cheapest.

just seen this in the echo then

EVERTON FC STADIUM:
More now on plans for a new Everton stadium, which I mentioned earlier.
Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson says Everton FC will be able to make an announcement about a new stadium in the next few months, according to reports.
The mayor – a lifelong Blues supporter – has been in talks with club bosses as they consider relocating from Goodison Park.
A move has been on the cards for years but the plans have been plagued by setbacks, mainly funding problems.
The ECHO previously reported how club chairman Bill Kenwright was looking at “two or three” plots of land for a new stadium.
Now, in an interview with Everton fan website NSNO, Mayor Anderson said: "There are a number of sites that we've been considering and we're doing all we can.
"I'm optimistic that we'll be able to put forward a suitable solution within the next couple of months.
"We're working with Everton and I'm confident that we'll be able to put a proposal forward shortly."

The council are interested in improving north Liverpool, the Anfield Project is going to improve a good chunk of the area and I imagine they will be putting every effort into keeping Everton in Walton too, the area simply can't afford to lose the club and the council no doubt have plans for the whole area that involves both clubs being there. They're likely hoping the football hub idea works even with separate stadiums and 2 new stadiums being kept as close as possible will only increase the chances of further investment in and around that area.

The council aren't going to invest anything other than giving up land though, they don't have the finances to do anything more than that, they're making loads of cuts as it is.

New stadium, good stuff

PS get your season tickets while they are hot

Season tickets will be sold because we're playing boss footie in the spirit of the School of Science and having some success. I doubt even our board think talk of a new stadium will shift more season tickets.

As somebody not on Merseyside... The Reds once had plans for a new ground on Stanley Park, yes? I wonder if the council would be willing to offer that land to us.

Obviously don't take their abomination of a stadium idea, but I feel like it'd be a prime location. Keeps the dream of Merseyrail coming back alive, keeps Everton in the neighborhood, and doesn't involve us having to go through the very, very painful process of renovating Goodison.

Am I the only luddite on here who thinks that the whole Kirby thing was a sign from above that we are never, ever to leave Goodison. I was over at Christmas vs Saints for the first time in ten years. I adore that atmospheric museum of a football ground.

We have to get the message that we want improvement of Goodison rather than some soulless, identikit cheap looking stadium.

Goodison is unique. There remains very, very few stadiums like it in all of Europe. It is to be treasured, not abandoned-

I think this debate will be about proposals for a land swap - we give the city Goodison Park and the city gives us a slightly bigger chunk of Walton Hall Park in return- so the Walton area keeps roughly the same amount of open public space and we stay in Walton.

To be fair where are we going to get the money for this new stadium?

Bearing in mind that Kenwright could not even provide £30m for King's Dock.

I could weep for that, basically the Rooney dough at the time,I don't want to leave GP but that project had me hook, line and sinker, would have been the most iconic stadium in the country,we would have stolen a march on the RS,and we would have been playing "on the banks of OUR royal blue mersey!!!"

I think it can happen, the funding of a stadium just like a mortgage there will be one upfront payment £10m-£20m then £5m-£10m every yr for 10-15yrs.

Tv money came into force this yr, we will have to take a hit with transfer budget for 2-3 yrs, but once stadium up it starts repaying itself with corporates, higher attendances, better facilities.

Arsenal match day turnover in final season @ Highbury was £37m. The following season was £90m . I know they have bigger stadium.

It will inevitably create money when it's open
