New Everton Stadium

Oh look, Everton engagin with fans over the proposed move. Bu they wouldn't according to some.

*awaits post to say this is a sham and decisions have already been made

The execution of this is key.

As an example - the Club 'engaged' with fans over that crest with the Everton Fans Forum who the club appoint, didn't they? On the sudden unveiling, there was the pictures with fans, all sat around a table saying the new crest was oh so wonderful. Then;

In a long statement, the club conceded that the badge can't be changed in time for the new season because merchandise has already been made, but promised a "transparent consultation process" on a replacement for the 2014/15 season.

Transparent being important here, cherry picking fans and coercing them to smile and wave as they did with that crest example isn't engaging the fan base.

Fans should be at the start of the decision making, rather than cherry picking fans and selected opinions to support what is already there.

So, badge consultation 1 would be bad. Bad consultation 2 would be better, but still in my opinion should have been improved.

I've registered and they give you options in how you'd like to participate: forum debate, sit downs etc.

The issue with the stadium will be down availability of land and what is feasible for the architecture. I think they'd be asking questions about atmosphere and travel, theyll probably want to know things like capacity facilities etc but this again will come down to what can be done on the land and cost.

It'll be interesting to see how this develops over time

I am not over enthused on how we plan to fund this. Arsenal didnt take 40 years to pay off their costs. Seems strange as I thought we would
endeavour to pay this off as quickly as possible. I wonder if there are any penalties for early repayment, I was hoping sponsership, naming rights etc would enable us to pay down this debt sooner. I wonder if Moshiris plan is `planning gain` get all the ducks in a row for the stadium, take up the option to buy the remaining 51% and hoof us on to the highest bidder

If we pay off at the rate Arsenal did then we will be just competing to stay in the premiership. We haven't got a boss team and a world renowned reputation to carry us through 10 or more years of just hitting a stadium debt.

You can bring a horse to water but your ant make it drink.
Some posters obviously have personal issues with Anderson and are using this stadium and it's financing to bash Anderson.
Some (same) posters have issues with Moshiri because he sacked our brown shoes leader and have a go at Moshiri over this
Logic doesn't really come into it

That is a very talented ant.

Could have him doing half time shows at the new stadium

I realise that, however with increased revenue, inparticular naming rights and hopefully some shrewd moves with the uplift in value in the area
subletting etc to new ventures I would hope we are not `tied` to 40 years as the amount we will have to pay back could be huge, and would likely be so. The Council have a revenue stream from us for 40 years I am not suprised they are supportive. I just hope we have options to pay back without penalty. I realise some business debt can be good however a 40 year period is huge.
A simple example is 40 years x 4 million = 160 million approx half of the stadium cost! There is a saying `cash is king` why would a wealthy owner saddle us with a debt like that? Surely it would make financial sense to fund it yourself and get the return yourself
Just strikes me odd not having a go in anyway

Surely paying over 40 years is a good thing. Repayments won't be holding us back as they will be very low because of the period of time. The stadium will pay for itself plus change. Makes sense to me.

I think the point is to make the club self sufficient. If we rely on one person when the gravy train stops rolling you could be in trouble. Moshiri is far older than say an Abramovich (& a lot less wealthy) than when he took over at Chelsea, he hasn't got the same amount of resources, time and is now impeded by FFP. Whether he would have bought into us had there been no FFP is another question.
