New Everton Stadium

Other option which a lot have overlooked.

Doing so in this manner gives the council a huge vested interest once they've committed to the idea (which they now have), now any future things the club needs council support on - you would have to imagine they will get 100%, be that infrastructure improvements, planning permissions, dealing with the World Heritage organisation etc

I would argue against this, the Council have to be transparant. However I take your point and hope you are right
I hope we have the ability and options to pay this debt off though sooner than 40 years.

What did people think of that: "we will continue to look closely at the economics of the new stadium".

I immediately thought that was a pointer to capacity and design that would then provide the parameters to focus groups about what's affordable.

I think it means that we don't want to build a stadium so small that we have waiting lists for tickets , or one that's so big that we hanve 4/5 thousand seats empty every week
Also we have to look at realistically what level of corporate seating can we sell
Or it could mean what you said
We don't know we can only surmise

Lads the consultation process is seen to be doing and lip service, you can bet the stadium is about 95% designed. All thats left is where you want your chip shop, statues and colors kind of stuff.

No way we are going to drop 300mill and let fans have to much of an input anything that correlates will be sold as according to the fans.

Exactly what it says; its not a blank cheque book to appease all the moaning arses. You're moaning about the club being loaded with a masive debt over the next 40 years but don't want them not to keep an eye on cost?? Deary me dave; its one or the other.

And capacity of the venue depends on numerous factors including demand, availablity of land, cost per seat and thngs like transport demans. The area is still built up, planning consent still applies. Its got numerous factors to meet.

A lot of sense in that
Leave it to the experts
As long as it has an official capacity of 61878 and no running track I'll be happy

All Government bodies 'in theory' have to be transparent mate, very, very few actually are

I realise that, but my point is that after doing their economic modelling a cost will be chosen to stick to and that, effectively, is a fait accompli for any decisions 'to be made by fans' via focus groups.

In short: the club will in the end say: "here's our budget; you cant have that and that, but you can have this and this or this and this".

Probably looking at next seasons ticket season sales in relation to potential capacity. As for funding/design, that's a different matter.

In all honesty Dave, the fans input will be a token thing, football nearly in it's entirety is as far removed from fan involvement or actually caring what fans truly think as it has ever been in the history of the game, and unless something dramatic happens - then that's the trend which will only continue.

Sad, but it is what it is now.

...in the end the consultation will be a nonsense. It'll be so strait-jacketed that a narrow choice will be presented to fans who possibly think they can influence matters. They really cant.

They may as well go ahead as per KD and DK and present a design and capacity. All this is just PR BS...and serves the purpose of kicking the can down the road for another six months on real decision making.

And you can't blame them for that
It's like building a house
You have a budget and minimum requirements
3beds Kitchen 2 bathrooms etc
And your missus and the kids want a gym a swimming pool a cinema room and a 30ftx30 ft kitchen
Budget is the over riding factor
But you make sure your budget is enough to give you at least the minimum required and in this case it's 55/60 k capacity stadium

I am not over enthused on how we plan to fund this. Arsenal didnt take 40 years to pay off their costs. Seems strange as I thought we would
endeavour to pay this off as quickly as possible. I wonder if there are any penalties for early repayment, I was hoping sponsership, naming rights etc would enable us to pay down this debt sooner. I wonder if Moshiris plan is `planning gain` get all the ducks in a row for the stadium, take up the option to buy the remaining 51% and hoof us on to the highest bidder

You say "Arsenal didn't", as if they had paid off their stadium. They haven't. Their loan was for 25 years, due to end 2031.

They pay about £20m per season to the stadium debt. 2015/16 this was £12m interest & £8m capital.

IMO - fan consultation shouldn't even be something needed, if the people in charge of the club, the people designing the stadium and the club officials liaising between the two actually understood football and the supporters.

As we know though, that's not the case

I completely agree.

I'd rather they just GTF on with it, tbh.

The whole consultation stuff is a sham.

IF the club truly understood and valued the fans then let's face it - we'd be seeing 20 quid home ticket prices and taking the Arouna Kone/Enner Valencia transfer fee hit on it per season.

Now IF Moshiri really wanted to make a statement, that would make one that mattered much more than Jim White Skype calls and text messages
