New Everton Stadium

I dont think that's true. The cash pouring in from revenues makes it a very lucrative business regardless of stadium build. By the time the foreign tv revenue is added to the pot it'll be about two and a half billion quid going to the PL each season, with each club getting about £35M for each of the three seasons just from tv cash. The rules in place are going to severely cut the amount of this revenue that can go on players wages and agents fees. The need for a new stadium wouldn't complicate matters if the club in question was solid and guaranteed to retain PL status. It'd be a hassle for incoming owners to deal with, yeah, but not something that would be put a road block on a deal.

The fact Aston Villa haven't had a sniff of interest despite openly being on sale for many months really makes me doubt anyone is desperate to buy Everton and give Kenwright & co. what they want.

...because, I'd suspect, Villa look like they've been headed out of the Pl for the past few seasons.

No investor is going to touch that 'asset' with a barge pole.

True, but Villa also don't need a new £250m stadium built.

Taking my blue tinted spectacles off for a moment, if I were a Sheikh with no emotional attachment to either, I'd suggest they would see Villa as the easier investment to 'transform' into a top 4 club. I don't just mean 'team', as in spend a few million on good players, I mean 'club', as in transform the club's commercial structure and revenue streams. It would take less money to improve Villa than it would to improve Everton.

Neither do Everton. Last time around the Everton wedge was to be £80M.

Everton wouldn't be shouldering the whole costs in any future scheme either.

Everton are always scrambling around looking for stadium partners to foot the bill. That's a large reason why none of the stadium plans have come to fruition in the first place.

Liverpool and Spurs haven't needed outside partners to help fund their costly stadium rebuilds (although both leaned very heavily on their respective local councils in buying up land around the outside of the stadiums, over many years). West Ham haven't needed outside investment to move into the Olympic Stadium.

For Everton to do anything stadium-wise, they need a LOT of help from LCC, just as Liverpool and Spurs have received a lot of council help.

It's not though mate. It's been stated that Stoneybridge Cross is no longer available and has been earmarked for another development. Everton dismissed the site months ago.

Everton dismissed a lot of sites (including GP, WHP and Stonebridge) stretching back to the time even before the Kirkby Shed so I wouldnt put any weight on what they say.

I understand that. But Stoneybridge Cross is out of the question now, LCC have confirmed. Something else is earmarked for that site.

The whole reason why WHP came to light is because LCC had to publish their long-term regeneration plans for the next 5 to 10 years. Not just stuff that was 'definitely planned', they had to include stuff that 'might happen', which is the category that Everton's WHP stadium falls under.

Stoneybridge Cross is earmarked for something else, as was stated when LCC published their long-term regeneration report last year. Quote from Councillor Malcolm Kennedy regarding Stoneybridge Cross:

"Since then we have brought forward significant regeneration plans for the site supported by the council and local community leaders which mean we can't use this site even if we wanted to".

The site at Stonebridge was earmarked for Amazon but they pulled the councils chain (as they tend to do) to get the site for them.

Two years down the line and nothing has happened.

The WHU thing should never have been allowed. How is it that we as Everton supporters have helped finance, and will continue to finance via stadium maintenance costs, the operations of this club. Ridiculous.

Anyone else have that sneaky feeling tescos are going to involved again. They seem to have axed plans for their new Kirkby store could this be a potential joint venture at WHP

No, they have just learnt for the last 3 years or more profits have been false to the tune of millions overstated and are currently talking of axing 10,000 jobs!
