New Everton Stadium

Was the follow up question about Witsel or Mata being presented at the breakfast meeting? Perhaps they could serve up bacon butties to the crowd.

I do hope we get some good news today. I cannot believe that this has been arranged to say nothing of consequence.

In all fairness, it hasn't been arranged specifically. there are these Business breakfast meeting on a fairly regular basis, only difference is the agenda, which is mainly focused on LW but clearly has to touch on the stadium and what it means to the entire development.

The longer this goes on the more anxious I become.

A year on we haven’t got any substantial updates.

In regards what was said via capacity it’s so short sighted but you wouldn’t put that past a club who signed the most short sighted commercial deal I have ever seen in my life.

I want this more than anything but I feel like it’s goinf to turn into a nightmare.

We're literally at the same stage we were at this time last year when this scheme was formally introduced: no funding, no designs, no planning permission. In fact, it could easily be argued that we're worse off than this time last year: the scheme has hit a major bump in the road over funding, it's at the mercy of a decision by UNESCO this summer as to its appropriateness for the river front, and the financial team at LCC's end of things have been decimated by arrests and resignations.

No one can argue with the conclusion that its been nothing short of a disaster so far.
UNESCO is not going to stop it. That will be sacrificed if necessary. Funding will.

looks like we can only afford 2 stands... maybe we can get it half done and play in a 25k stadium for 10 years till we save enough for the other 2..

will need a bloke in a coracle to fetch the balls out the Mersey mind, like that old fella at shrewsbury town used too

the writing was on the wall, or more like the cladding, when mosh had that put up.

there was no way he was shelling out 100's of thousands on tarting goodision up for us to move 3 years later.

we will be at goodison for the foreseeable future 10+ years i'd say

50k wouldn’t the extra tier on the park end take us to 50?

Moving stadium for an extra 10k capacity?

If this is true IMO sheds light on the true reason for a stadium move.

I hate everyone who’s involved with our club.
Why waste 500 mil plus 175 million over the 25 in intrest to get a 9k bigger stadium, waste of money

I wouldn't be so sure. The fact they're waiting on a meeting in New York in July to square them off underlines how important that WHS is politically.

It has nothing to do with the stadium and all to do with central docks skyscrapers which have been scrapped anyway due to lack of interest. The stadium will not dramatically alter the skyline, we aren't building Wembley there.

I think that's a bit disingenuous though. The fears of the design of any stadium fitting in down there are also apparent from the bits and pieces we've heard reported about UNESCO's concerns.

In any case, it is all the one scheme, so if UNESCO are just concerned about the rest of the development it is still a huge obstacle for EFC to face.
