New Everton Stadium

Ah the mythical 10000 people on the waiting list, same one liverpool fans cry out about.

In reality their are thousands of people who put their name down, only to not take one when giving the opportunity..

If their was such a demand, we wouldn't be having to sell half season tickets.

If fact we are also around 1000 below full capacity arent we?

We don’t sell half season tickets anymore and we sold out every single home game last season.

You’ve got to pay for the privilege of being on the waiting list, that’s what bumped a load of reds off the list years ago. I can’t see “thousands” of people paying £25 a year to then not bother.

I think a lot of people are working on this assumption but is it actually true?

I've got loads of mates who trot out the 'I'm not paying £40 to sit behind a post' line, but then if they get offered a ticket for free in a decent spot they still don't go. They'd rather watch it in the pub having a few beers, or in some cases just do something else entirely and just check the result later. A lot of people would like to project the image that they're real hardcore fans, but when it comes to it, they just can't be bothered to turn up.

Yes it’s true of pretty much every new stadium built here in the last 20 years.

Clubs only allocate a certain amount of season tickets and this season we had 32000, we sold every one of them so there wasn't any half season tickets this year, if there is 1000 seats empty then they are either some of the worst seats that are available to buy for walk up fans, that's why there is a need for a new stadium

Season ticket sales, although Evertons should say 32000

and none of those clubs are winning anything because of the size of stadium mate

If Goodison from next season had a 100k capacity all of a sudden, it would make absolutely no difference to the size, success or appeal to none die hard evertonians whatsoever.

Who gives a flying whatever about statement of intent now in reality, we got caught up in thinking that was important in the past with transfers etc
Then why do you think Spurs are now going for a 62,000 stadium? Their board clearly think that having a bigger stadium is going to help them be more successful.

You must be made up
I'm concerned about the debt side of this stadium.

The more I think of it the location + a decent design could provide the impact statement needed. We need the costs to be repayable quickly. If a smaller, less grandiose stadium means we cut debt repayment time down to 20 years or so then job done.

It's a compromise and not ideal, but that's where we are as a club. No billionaire is paying for this ground.

Because they are already on their way to becoming successful, they have a hugely talented young squad, a young manager, They are in London therefore have a huge amount of day trippers to exploit, their fans can "afford" the ticket price rises needed to pay of a stadium, there stadium is far too small already as well.

We have none of that, Infact we need more investment than ever to catch up, how are we gonna be spending the 200+ Million needed to get into the champions league? whilst having Fat sam and the waste of space walsh leading us? all while trying to pay off half a billion of debt.

Arsenal "struggled" competing money wise when they had to pay off their stadium and they where is a far greater position, in a far better area of the country to pay it off. How are we gonna do it?

Like I said, all my arguments would go out of the window, if the club wasn't going to be the one paying it off. but we are. Moshiri isn't.

Bit of a weird thing to say that mate. I'm very enthusiastic, I just think the idea of people saying we need a stadium with a 50% increase to capacity to be a little bit weird. It's no skin off my nose if we build a 60k, 70k, 150k stadium, I'm simply putting forward my belief that we wouldn't necessarily find it as easy to attract an extra 20k fans as some people seem to suggest. Think that's the kind of thing the forum was designed for but I might be wrong.

The assumption that you confidently state is true wasn't true for City, who are probably the closest comparison for us in terms of geography and fan demographics. For 4-5 years they were averaging about 5k under capacity in a 47k stadium, at one point even going below a 40k average. The attendances picked up once they started winning stuff, which I've absolutely no doubt ours would if we ever managed to do such a thing.

Arsenal are also cash rich because Kronke seed them as a cash cow and won’t release all the funds needed

At the moment at goodison where we have a lot of restricted views, we get close to 40k every home game, we also have a waiting list for season tickets.

Once the new stadium is built fans will get the excitement and bug to start going the match again who don't already go, you will also get at least 1 to 2k visitors coming just for the experience. Also once Sam gets the boot and we get a decent manager in (Fonseca) playing great footie the fans will flock back.

60k for me is ideal
And then you woke up........lol

Any one else get one?
The times are all ridiculous (granted a lot will be off bank holiday- not me) only one is after work time, despite this- not a chance in hell I'd get back before 7pm. Frustrating- have a few sessions on a weekend.
