New Everton Stadium

Maybe they are doing everything right. Maybe it will all work out for the best this time. Who knows?

The fact is, the one poll they would never dare to put up would be the one that asks how confident we all are with the board and the whole stadium scheme. How many football supporters in the league have had to put up with the number of broken dreams and promises that we have over the years? How many PL teams have had so many failed stadium proposals (that were apparently 99.99% going to happen)? This is why you will see so much dismissal of anything positive.

The only thing that will change those sort of views is when we see something concrete (figuratively and literally). Yes, there will still be moaners, whinging about this that and the other over the final design, but at least there would be a clear certainty the damned thing is going to be built. Maybe then, we will begin to rebuild some small measure of confidence in the decision makers., maybe even @davek will crack a smile :). Only time will tell.

west hams massive new ground has worked out well.

they would of been better knocking upton park down and building a 50k stadium there.

id rather have an intimate ground, that generates lots of noise than a lavish 62k pad 3/4 full and full of tourists eating popcorn trying to make the numbers up.

thats what west ham want too now theyve moved

So what do you do when the 50k stadium is a limiting factor ?

They have settled matters down, they have said it will 50k+, but people like you assume it means 50k, when its more likely to mean 60k.

Glass half full, not half empty.
How is using a figure like 50,000 settling matters down? They're pretty thick if they thought that. One look on a forum like this will inform them of their folly.

I was reading this and I thought “This is a really well thought it and constructive post “
Then I got to

@davek will crack a smile :). Only time will tell.[/QUOTE]

Only one answer for that BED NOW lol

Yeah I agree that anything less than 55k will receive a serious fan backlash.

Although I would prefer 60k, I think 55k is acceptable. Of course capacity will be a moot point if the stadium is a pile of shoite.

And the 55,000 is absolute minimum that should be decided on only with a stadium build that realistically offers the opportunity to increase capacity another 10,000-15,000.

literally every new stadium being built is north of 60k... and yet here we are with our billionaire, 'give us all he's got' ....mr iconic himself, saying that 50k would be a good start point for us.

Wolves in the championship are looking to redevelop to 55k, sunderland who will be league one are 55k..

what does this say about our ambitions???

NSNO - mmm yeah ok

I think something more definite from the club about capacity would be helpful.
I do agree that 55k should be the minimum and I think it may also be close to optimum as long as future development potential is factored in.

I am not sure that the fans will be unhappy with that proposal.
Yep. As long as it was seen as a capacity that could be returned to in the event of increased demand it would satisfy.

It's hard not to see that exercise and the upcoming fresh round of consultations as a means to seize the agenda by skewing the thoughts of fans in the direction they want to head off in. It looks like a cynical manipulation.
'the fans said 50k plus, so we are delievering 50k plus.... 50,001'

Spot on. It is pretty unambitious. That's why I say 55,000 is absolute minimum and only acceptable with assurances regarding the ability of the design chosen and the footprint of the build to allow for a much greater capacity at a later date.

I;d say also that if there is sacrifice on capacity then the quality of the build in terms of materials and iconography has to be there in spades....although at this stage I'm expecting from these clowns some generic steel and glass oblong with a Prince Rupert's Tower on top of the Main stand.
