New Everton Stadium

their top earner is on more than double what ours is
They overpay their players for the quality they have. I'm not surprised they're looking to get it down. I think Liverpool will be in a holding patern a bit like Spurs until their stadiums are built.

Wanting top 4 and even demanding it from the managers but never really having the conviction to spend what's needed to get it.

Once their stadiums are built though that will be it. Our hopes of getting into the top 4 will be over for good barring a sugar daddy coming in. You can fluke beating one of 4 big monied teams. Beating 3 in one year would be virtually impossible. Frankly I would be more worried about slipping further down the league.

Assuming of course we don't also build a new stadium.

Newcastle outdo us bringing in off field money
They've a better stadium.

We're definitely mismanaged. I'm not arguing against that but we've consistently been in and around the teams with a lot more money than us and even now with a couple of good signings would have a very promising 1st team which lets be honest. As fans that's what we care about.

I just think a lot is made about this loan and that loan when in reality in business none of this really matters. Paying rent instead of owning the property can be a prudent decision. Even taking out the kit bag deal might have made sense then but was in hindsight short sighted. The Chang beer sponsorship was probably an attempt to get into the very lucrative asian market.

It just appears nothing has really worked too well but at least the 1st team has been given the funds.

They gave Sturridge the contract last year and offered Sterling £100k, id hazard a guess that last year their wage bill went up a fair bit considering they brought in about 5 players on big money to replace Suarez. I don't see how they're trying to reduce the wage bill at all

WOW, you're in for a big shock this summer according to Martinez

TBH the loans, of course they matter, the interest we pay on them is bordering on stupid, Paying rent on finch farm and having nothing to show for it in terms of an off field asset was a poor decision by the board. Kitbag deal at the time made sense in terms of guaranteed income, but to have it on such a long term deal at a fixed rate is outrageous. The chang deal sounds like they dictated terms to us, especially in the last negotiations, plus why are we trying to break into the asian market, we dont stand a chance, we shouldve been looking at more realistic countries like Aus and america

If they were going after the 'lucrative Asian market' they really ought to have had any semblance of a commercial foothold there. Never once saw an Everton kit in all the years I've been in Thailand..

Asia is where the money is today. You can't fault them for targeting it. You can however fault their attempts to break into it.

Of course you can, we're fighting a losing battle trying to compete with the chelseas liverpools UTDs, etc. Instead of going after places like aus, usa where we've already got a decent foothold in and have the chance to taking a decent size of the growing fan bases over there, we've had some of there finest players and most commercially lucrative players and havent tried to utilize it

Chang has been our sponsor since 2004. We haven't broken into the lucrative Asian market.

Time for a new idea...perhaps one that pays more than £4.5 million/year and would actually get us a foothold in an area that could possibly care (Australia? US? Hell, even Ireland would be a better option than SE Asia for us)

It's simple economics though. The Asian market is HIGHLY competitive right now, because the money is there and is proven to be interested in spending it. This means every English club is competing in Asia, many of which are in much better positions to do so than us (whether it's due to success, or the cultural connotations of red vs blue).

The intelligent business does not position itself to compete with the dominant firms but finds a new area to exploit. Everton (and Tottenham, and WHam, etc.) need to stop aiming for China/Thailand/etc. and start aiming for other wealthy markets that are more exploitable. Australia and the US are the first that come to mind, that don't have any cultural baggage with blue (in fact blue is America's favorite colour http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/29/house-beautiful-2012-color-report_n_1840383.html ... these things matter to the new market).

The thing is, Everton is NOT an intelligently run business. It has no ideas for progress, it is overly negative in it's forecasts for the future. Everton's executive team do not believe that they can succeed with the club. They are defeatist. And we will pay for that in the future if nothing changes.

Every everton player should kick their birds out and take Asian wife. That strategy might be more effective. We would get huge media coverage all over the Asia.
