New Everton Stadium

Dave talks a load of rubbish, I don’t know why people take him seriously

On the assumption that @davek is/was being facetious, I think by the sheer lack of any solid news from the club that funding is still an issue to be resolved... and until it is - with or without any involvement of LCC - then the other thorny issue of the capacity remains undecided.

Re. Parking difficulties, can't we propose some creative solutions between us?

Here's a starter; the Club / Council buys a decommission aircraft carrier or ferry. Up to 45 minutes beforehand you can park your car on it, then for the match duration + stadium emptying time it will leave the dock and station half a mile away, returning afterwards so people can pick up their cars again.

Btw it doesn't stay docked the whole time for security / space

At half time ,floating free in the Mersey, the car park/aircraft carrier is hijacked by Sengalese pirates and under cover of night is sailed to Senegal were a second hand car industry is started. No thanks.

...and if you know your history.

Just reading a few things from the archives, and although it’s many years ago and the figures are a lot different in these times some situations remain similar.

A report on Everton Shareholders meeting from the Liverpool Chronicle, August 1892;

‘...the total new ground expenditure amounted to £2,700, being £700 in excess of the estimate, but the Chairman thought that as they had obtained double the accommodation which was provided at the old ground, there was no cause to grumble (cries of ‘hear, hear’)’.

From August 1895 regarding the purchase of Goodison Park;

‘.......for some time past, rumours have been cast about the directors being unable to raise money by mortgage on the ground, or at any rate they had approached several financiers for that purpose, and they could not effect a deal at all serviceable to their requirements. Be that as it may, we are able to inform those that circulated those silly reports that a mortgage of £6,000 has been obtained and signed, sealed and delivered most satisfactorily for the club’.

Perhaps times don’t really change!!

Not been on this thread for about a 100 pages or so. Any wonderous news? Is Alisher driving up shotgun with a wagon full of steel beams for the stadium yet? Have we increased the size to 71878 yet? Have the pot holes started growing after Big Joe syphoned off all the cash for the stadium? Did Jeff from West Derby take his brain ache medication yet?

All I know is there have been some substantial changes to the plans on the riverside, to accomodate a large floating vessel.
