New Everton Stadium

You cant get more than 40000 into GP history or no history and thats with this useless crowd in charge doing next to nothing in growing the club.

If there is a group that comes in with the intention for the club to grow then 50k wont be hard to hit.

If they had trouble filling for certain games then give each of the 150 or so primary schools in the city 20 tickets each and that not only embeds EFC into the young impressionable future supporters it fills 3000 seats that otherwise would be unsold.

In a 50000 plus stadium, Everton's attendances 1984 - 87 reached the dizzying height of 32,000. (Although if you speak to people now, the attendances must have been about 60,000 judging by the number "I was there's.

You and the other chap base your planning on fantastical numbers.

"I’m assuming an average attendance of 50,000, so an increase of 11,000 on current attendances".

Baseless optimism, flying in the face of Everton's attendance history.

I think it assumes that we have new owners who have injected capital into the club to fund a new stadium and make us a regular top 4/5 club.

On that basis ( new owners ) yea, it's pretty much baseless optimism, but look on it more as a business plan than something that's actually likely to happen.

If you look at the O/S to see how season ticket sales are going then most of the remaining seats are now restricted views. There is certainly some demand there, and a plan to take club back to it's former successes could tap into that. Regular 45,000 crowds growing to 50,000 over time isn't impossible. Unfortunately there's a lack of ambition, and capital, in the club to really take it forward.

Unless the BoD are willing to dilute their holdings in order to finance a new stadium, then we appear to be stuck. I had hoped that wouldn't be the case, and the eternal optimist / complete fool in me still hopes some compromise can be reached on the funding, but, I'm not exactly confident any more.

The way I see it now, the existing board will not be sorting out a ground move and neither will they be paying to update Goodison

So that leaves two options for the fan base as far as I can see

1: Petition the local authorities to stump up the required funds to do up Goodison, using the argument that it's part of the cities heritage and more supporters coming on match days would help the local economy. We can write, tweet, call and even demonstrate to get this point accross.

Or

2: Step up the pressure on the exisiting board to either put the hands in their pockets for either the ground move or updates to Goodison. This can be done by marching, social media and other ways. Basically, the fan groups from all ends of the spectrum need to get together and decide a united approach to getting the board to listen. This might go some way to convincing your average fan on the street that this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Get everyone together on the same page and focused on one single issue, getting the ground sorted.

I can't see any other option at this point other than sitting around and hoping that someone wealthy buys the club, which is looking increasingly less likely.

You are living in cloud cuckoo land if you even think hat has a chance off coming off.

People are losing their jobs and services are being cut back because the councils money had dried up.

Even if the council did find money for funds to do up GP the Government will be asking whats going on.

Pretty sure those attendance numbers were fudged though mate.

All we can do as a fan base is try

If they say no, they say no

It's better than sitting around and hoping for something to happen

It's not unheard of for football clubs to get help from the local authorities in regards to their grounds

Stockport County have recently had the council buy their ground in order to prevent the land being sold and the stadium torn down. It was done because the council thought it was important for the town to retain the football club. Had Edgeley Park been demolished, that would have pretty much been it for County. Over a century of history gone in a fleeting moment

If the local authorities can be persuaded as to the importance of doing up Goodison, they might assist

They might not, but what's the harm in trying?

That has already been dealt with when the WHP was revealed by Joe Anderson, they cant do anything other that build the infrastructure such as roads and the like.

Not optimistic at all. Compare for instance the attendances at places like Leicester before and after they moved ground. For some reason a new stadium attracts thousands of new or returning support irrespective of performances on the pitch.
