New Everton Stadium

Some decent posts again in here after the week of deflection and white noise.

@the esk is making good points about the financials. There's too much belief that just building a new ground will boost revenues and that simply is not the case. The business case must stack up (same as it would for redevelopment) and everything I've read over the last 15 years points towards a phased redevelopment as the only option. Without an investment of capital neither will happen and that alone should be enough to put serious pressure on this current board.

Since the Main Stand was rebuilt in 1969 (in the same place, during a season) all we have seen is a new Gwladys Street roof and a lower league standard Park End replacement that was part funded. It's an absolute disgrace and a dereliction of duty by the owners to let the 1966 World Cup semi-final venue fall so far behind our peers.

Regarding attendances I think EFC is relatively healthy for now but we must act fast. Nearly all games sell out except for obstructed views. This won't matter to most ST holders but for the casual attendee or a visitor the options are diabolical for the 21st century. Unless you have an affinity with the Club you certainly wouldn't be back for a second helping and this must change; we cannot rely solely on recurring ST sales. Given our current attendances and facilities I think it is achievable to have c50k back at GP especially if we are sensible about redevelopment. A rebuilt Park End for example can have hospitality facilities ranging from top end down to a 'Winslow style' experience and space for 'normal' supporters. Again @Bluesnapper makes a great point about local schools etc topping up attendances when necessary but what underpins all this is investing in improved facilities for every single person that walks into GP. Currently, we are putting up with absolute [Poor language removed] and those above don't care.

What needs to be done to remedy this impasse has been debated time and again and I urge anybody supportive of this board to question them. I just hope that we see change before we arrive at an irreparable situation as with every passing week we're falling further behind even second tier PL sides.

For those who can see no wrong in the board read the above and keep that at the forefront when backing them.

As Bjork once sang"its all so quiet"and the sound of silence from this board yet again is deafening.

Would like to hear from the club if WHP project still ongoing?
Confirmation for that would eaze this speculation.

A clarification is needed I agree totally. From the little we do know about the project (acknowledging this is guesswork) I would suggest it isn't the right move anyway.

- it won't be an Emirates grade build
- it doesn't sound like it will be a multi purpose building/development
- location wise it's worse for public transport than GP
- it's adding nothing tangible to the city of Liverpool

Basically just dropping a one purpose stadium into the suburbs isn't good enough.

Said it before, and I'll say it again......

If we ARE to move from GP (I hope not) then the ONLY place we should move to is the William Collins playing fields on Stanley Rd (Opposite the plod shop). Excellent (public) transport links & closer to the city centre. Waterfront view as well.

Well at one point there was talk about it being multipurpose stadium and that it would benefit greatly that particular area and surroundings.

Not sure about the stadium being multi-purpose but I found these snippets....

An independent study has found that 1,250 permanent jobs, 1,000 new homes and 30,000 square metres of leisure, retail and restaurant space could be created in the park.

Proposals include a stadium and housing working with Liverpool Mutual Homes, as well as upgrading the facilities currently available such as the Lifestyles gym.

None of which whets my appetite nor suggests the stadium building will be maximised. All it does to me is suggest partners may want to part fund it for us which probably hits the nail on the head. It's another outdated model - stadium on a leisure park.

Here's a mad idea - why don't we come up with a proposal whereby we own the leisure facilities and give something back to the people of the city? Get into partnership with a university for sports science etc?
