New Everton Stadium

Commenting on the financial challenges of re-developing Goodison Park John Blain queried if the Club would be interested in working with a well backed Fans Group. Mr Elstone said that he would be interested and noted conversations in the past where the Club had worked with representative Fan Groups. However, discussions had not progressed as those organisations he’d spoken with were unable to raise necessary funding.

Elstone is now expecting fan groups to pay for a stadium for him?

I'll try again. Arent you happy that this project is going forward?
Going by the assumption that it is in fact "going forward", as we have no evidence of such, my preference would be to stay and somehow fix Goodison. Should that not be doable, going by the quality of stadium this lot conned a fanbase in thinking was "world class' in Kirkby, I have at best a minimal confidence they will be providing our great club a quality of stadium anywhere near worthy of which we deserve.
So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I want the club to go forward, but don't think the people at the helm will provide us with a new home for the next hundred years worthy of our great club. I don't want us stuck with a Kirkby MkII...

Nothing has been moved forward by the sound of it. Back in November Elstone had said we had been working on the WHP site for 12-18 months and a planning application would be in place for late summer early autumn this year ( clicky da linky )

Now the latest news is we won't have a planning application before the end of Q1 next year. So practically summer next year, which according to Elstone will mean we have been looking at this site for nigh on four years.

Not going to happen is it.

Everton FC stadium update will be issued in October says Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson

Talks on the plans for Walton Hall Park are ongoing the Labour leader has revealed

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson will issue an update on plans for a new Everton FC stadium on Walton Hall Park by October.

Last year Everton confirmed they wanted to quit their Goodison Park home to move the short distance up the road, in order to increase capacity and operate from a modern stadium that would generate more revenue.

At the end of last season the club’s chief executive Robert Elstone said the club would“scrutinise” funding before progressing with the ground move.

Mayor Anderson was asked on Twitter whether he could give an update on what was happening with the stadium.

He said: “We’re still talking and I will one way or other have something to say by end of October.”

He told the ECHO the council was still in talks with Everton FC.

He said: “I’m not prepared to keep people in the dark for longer than that.

“I haven’t got to the stage where I’m setting a deadline on a decision but we will simply be giving people an update on what’s happening in October.”

The proposed development on the park would see Everton build a 50,000-seater stadium, while 1,000 new homes and 30,000 square metres of leisure, retail and restaurant space would also built on the land.

Mayor Anderson has previously said it could create more than 1,000 jobs.

Campaign groups Friends of Walton Hall Park and Save Walton Hall Park were formed to oppose the plans.
