New Everton Stadium

Oh yeah the one designed on land the size of a postage stamp with no access!! Now that really was drawn up by some space cadet..

Nice, name-calling.

Now there's a lot of posters in this thread who were actively involved in promoting this great white elephant. But strangely enough throughout this debate there has been no mention of it.

It was billed as an alternative to a move that was ridiculous. There are no ridiculous moves mooted presently.

Really?? I've not been around long enough to know them. Are they also the same sort of people who are complaining about a sub standard stadium that as of yet hasn't been revealed?

The proposed Loop site is viable if the Club and land owners work together. Bourneblue had zero facts against it that backed up to any sort of scrutiny.

Simple question...
Why Goodison redevelopment isnt serious option?

The Club prefer to chase a new build dream. There is no reason that GP cannot be redeveloped whatsoever as has been proven many times.

Proven? Where?

These are the Tom Hughes "KEIOC" proposals first put forward 6 years ago:

I have never seen any costings for these proposals, I am aware of a figure of £100 million which was suggested in the summer. To me that appears a very low figure when other stadia refurbishments are compared.

Whether it is £100 million or more is largely academic without the funding by investment not debt.

The truth is out there...along with a couple of other versions.

The only untruth is the Club's ( at present ) stance that redevelopment is not on / do-able / viable / fill in what ever excuse as required.

My God, that redevelopment is perfect. Would love that.

Can't get someone else to pay for it if they can't stick a retail outlet by it. The board would have to finance it themselves therefore despite the low sum it's a definite no no for them.

Trying to not have any input into this as I firmly believe discussion about it is completely pointless, as it will never happen under the current owners of this club. Even if they found the way, they are so incompetent that they'd screw it up, which they've proven over and over again they are marvellous at with minor things like a retail annex, nevermind a brand new stadium.

But anyway, my honest view is that given I'm 99% certain we'll not get a new stadium off the ground for the next two decades minimum, we should look to do the common sense thing and redevelop Goodison piece by piece. I've never understood why it was apparently impossible, especially when down the road our neighbours are doing it.

Compulsory purchase orders around the radius, develop parking facilities and expand a stand at a time and overhaul the aesthetic - job done. With the money coming into the game, it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Liverpools 1 new stand has been costed at roughly the same amount as that whole new redevelopment, it's pie in the sky mate.

125 million for the two new stands if my memory serves me right, I was last year involved in the quoting for that new stand. But, my guys last so I hope it gets cocked up and goes over budget.

The stadium at Kirkby was a design and build job by Barr Construction, 78 million quid the cost was for it. Cheap and nasty it would have been.
