New Everton Stadium

Evertons wage bill is £88 million.

Man City: £116 million

Liverpools: £125 million

Manchester United: £154 million

Chelsea: £161 million.

We are only 30ish million behind both City and Liverpool in the wage bill.

We have spent £536 million over the last 5 years. That's more than Spurs, Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal.

When do we get to the point that maybe it's not FFP that has been holding us back these years but instead it is our inept owners?

Sportrec is completely wrong mate. Our wage bill is definitely not 88m and Liverpool's latest audited accounts show a wage bill of 330m. They are 3rd most expensively assembled club side in football history.

As for the spend, with inflation adjusted and as a proportion of league spend, Chelsea and City probably spent 2bn+ in their first 5 years, with minimal outgoings. So while we have spent decently, it is qualitatively different from those takeovers in real terms.

So if the stadium cost is £500 million - sounds daft but is that basically the total cost of the build etc over the course from start of work to completion?

If so you imagine if USM is doing a naming rights between £200-300 million as reported/speculated that it would be paid as one large lump sum to EFC rather than say £20-30 million per season over say 10 years?

If so goodbye FFP problems + likely sale of Kean :pint2:

@catcherintherye

USM will pay for the stadium via their sponsorships and now we don't have to buy off Unesco who've thrown their toys out of the pram, USM will hopefully pay for the increase to 62k-65k once it's built. Happy days (except for Rafael Benitez maybe lining up to take us there in 2024).

We've seen with the diggers on site last week it'll be all systems go now the heritage numpties have done one.

Can't see that whatsoever. Only the east and west sides can be extended and even then the seats would be miles away and the entire roof wrap (or at least prtially) would have to be replaced. Any increase in capacity will come from safe standing regs imo.

Us and Barcelona are the only clubs listed that do not have wages to turnover below 60%, Barcelona's is 78% and ours is 88%.

2. Real Madrid = £369 million

But wages to turnover and total wage spend are different things aren't they?

Could there be concerts held there before football? If it's finished in summer 2024 as is expected then they could use concerts as test events in the June/July.

He's just on the wind up / wishful thinking.

Any real blue knows our FFP issues have been down to us spunking huge fees in recent years and paying large wages to a large squad of dross.
Without European football.

All shifted off the books:

Bolasie £80k a week
Schneiderlin: £100k a week
Besic: 40k a week
Walcott: 100k
Klaassan: £70k a week

All out of contract and off the books next season or sold in Kean/Benards case potentially:

Benard: 100k+ a week
Kean: £60k+ a week
Delph: 60k a week
Tosun: £80k a week
Siggurdsson: 90k a week
James: £100k a week

Now we aint chucking money around but have increased sponsers / the upcoming Naming Rights Deal on the ground in addition to trimming the wage bill/squad size we'll be unlikely to make losses of that nature in the future.
Turning around a clubs finances is like turning around an oil tanker. It takes a long time.

Transfer fees are amortized over the length of the players contract. So even if we spend nothing in the next window from an accounting point of view we will still be paying off the fees for the players we have acquired over the last three or fours years.

Then you have to realise that the accounts are for the previous season. So even if

Benard: 100k+ a week
Kean: £60k+ a week
Delph: 60k a week
Tosun: £80k a week
Siggurdsson: 90k a week
James: £100k a week

Leave at the end of next season their wages will still affect our next two sets of accounts. The next set of accounts are likely to be horrific as the impact of COVID will be worse than the last set of accounts.

The big thing though is that of the players listed 3 of them are regular starters. That means we are going to have to pay transfer fees, signing on fees, agents fees and wages to replace them.

We may be getting rid of a lot of deadwood but we have others likely to take their place like Iwobi, Gbamin, Allan etc.

We are also going to give or have already given our better players new and improved deals.

Portakabins going in this or next week.

Groundwork’s starting next week.

Laings on site and due to start September.

Costs running near £750m now

Still Headaches around the dispersal of fans onto regent road after games over.

Waste Land opposite old BA warehouse and Titanic that could have been used as car / coach park / train station has been sold and will be used for some new monster heating system for existing residents in the area and the new 10 streets project.

More when I get it…

They are the same.

One shows wages spent, the other shows wages spent to how much money a club earns, the sweet spot number that all CL clubs aimed for in FFP era was 50-55% of wages to turnover which City United and RS were currently at easily, 18-19 turnover the last full season before covid their turnovers were in the £580-£620 million range from what I just checked, hence why all three have the highest wages in England at present, they have leeway to pay the highest wages and bonuses and should have no trouble hitting past those turnover numbers with fans back in the stadiums in August.

More important though will they be a 24 hour live stream showing progress on YouTube like Spurs had at their new ground?

But again you are making a different point. % of turnover is different to total wage.

I'd be a bit wary of fans being fully back in August as well by the way and staying in all season.
