New Everton Stadium

I'm talking about a new stadium with 55,000 capacity, including 5 - 7,000 executive seats (with the prospect of increasing that if necessary) costing in the region of £330 million and you don't think that's sufficient to meet our needs?

I see the logic with wanting a larger stadium but this seems like the sensible option for now, remember clubs make most of their money from TV revenue and executive seats these days. If we can get our house in order off the field after years of neglect, we'll eventually put the years of mediocrity behind us.

It probably won't happen but I'd love the stadium to be able to host concerts throughout the year bringing in money that way too, the club and the council should be working towards that. Put a roof on it like the failed KD proposal, I love the thought of the rs watching a gig and contributing to the club at the same time.

I think we're nearing the end of ticket prices increasing in the Premier League, which will no doubt help attract more people to the game.

Thanks to the £30 cap on away tickets, and the likes of Everton lowering our own ticket prices, I can't see many clubs increasing their home tickets without there being uproar with their fans.

I always think that we have a solid core of 30k fans who will attend no matter what. Anything else will depend on how we are doing/price of tickets. Throughout history we have always been one of the most supported clubs, our record attendances dwarf that of Liverpool's for example.

I don't see the point in building a 50k stadium when all of our supposed rivals will be bigger already. Even West Ham will have a 60k and that is the area I think we should be aiming for.

I'm all for a roof too. There's no real need in this day and age for an outdoor stadium. We can certainly make the grass grow indoors. Then again, a roof might hinder our capacity to expand? Food for thought mate :P

I have to agree with this
Attending matches is going to become more affordable in the coming years.
The cost has certainly prevented me and my sons going the match as much as we'd have liked. I wish these cheaper junior season tickets were available 10 - 15 years ago.
55k with definate plans to easily increase to 60k I would say is a minimum requirement.
I believe the RS will be 54k with plans for an increase to 59k? It would be nice to think we'd be the preferred Merseyside stadium for a future World Cup!

As we were for the last one!!!! Only English club ground to host groups and World Cup QF AND SF. I think it was strongly related to the number of seats we had at the time which was very high as well as full capacity. The other semi was at Wembley.

Build a new stadium on the Collins playing fields and watch them lot cry into the ground as they realise we've snapped up the best and most obvious location in the city, whilst they knock up a stand in the ghetto :p

Well I'm glad Damo's back, it's a welcome antidote to all the whinging in multiple other threads.

Let's keep it real. I'm Blue to the bone. We need to be thinking 15 years from now about our future.

Mr Moshiri hopefully will be thinking along the same lines. Above all he should not do a Randy Lerner. Splurge all our capital on mediocre players on ridiculous salaries. Moshiri is the game changer when it comes to infrastructure building.

100% agree. This is my point too.

Don't build for now. Build for now AND 10 years from now.

We need to ensure if we through our glorious leader are to spend big we are doing it in a way that means we don't face the exact same issues 5 years from now.

I'd say we would easily sell 40k season tickets under right conditions. The only reason we are not now is restricted views/lack of hospitality.

Improved transport.

Improved pricing.

Improved facilities.

We could easily do 60k

We've been at Goodison for over 100 years! Thinking of the next ten years is small time! One thing is for sure, without a load of bulldozers and cash, we'll be donald ducked if we're still at Goodison in 100 years :p

....I know those playing fields well and it's a decent call, not sure about the availability of space around there though. The old BA Tobacco site was empty for a long time but I don't know if it's now flats. My preference is still Edge Lane, a huge footprint behind MacDonalds with direct motorway and rail links. Ideal.

@bizzaro what level of pricing would we need to charge to increase "walk up" spectators from currently 5 - 7,000 to around 20,000 per match?

@The Esk

Tiered pricing.

Kids would be as proposed for 2016/2017.

Students get a further discount on proposed.

OAPs would get similar to as proposed

would look to give all the above specials for particular lower demand matches

For general. Would look to where possible reduce tickets by around another £5. That would cover transport costs that make up the bulk of peoples other matchday costs. Particularly focused on lower demand games i.e. tiered game categories.

And or with improved food/drink provision in the stadium would look to get that back to a degree.

This would be for three years initial to boost chances of max capacity.

Other reasons for 60,000+

Include leasing the stadium for other events.

Rugby
NFL
World Cup/Euros
Conferences
Concerts

Etc

You don't get these things without the needed capacity. 60 - 65 makes us competitive for them

So are you suggesting the yield on seats would fall from current levels, even though current yields do meet construction and financing costs?

I am suggesting that short term we look for a lower yield to maximise medium term yields.

Plus let clued up commercial directors

Figure out how we can extract more money from an extra 25,000 match day fans

(Remember the criticism we have directed at the commercial team prior to Mr Moshiri...)

Good point. Add to that the new pricing structure then more may attend. I think we have 94% occupancy now and I believe season ticket sales next year are healthy. Add in increased away support then 50 000 may be on the low side for a new stadium.

Very short streets left and right of there mate. In fact, if I recall correctly, the 'flower' streets were nearly planned for demolition about 10-years ago?

I may be wrong with that fact, but I'd have no real issue with the streets either side of it being bulldozed.
