New Everton Stadium

The stadium, in the grand scheme of things is irrelevant… it will get built but it’s not the jewel in the crown of the developers and land owners… it’s merely a crumb in the regeneration of the whole area around there… they don’t care if they spend money building the stadium … the price of the land it’s stood on will be worth 10 times more once the whole area has been redeveloped… we’re small chips in a big game with lots of rich investors who stand to make a fortune

you're right in what you say but it is important as it provides a kickstart to the existing project, it then allows that project and the money it produces to be realised 10-20 years sooner and the opportunity cost -> benefit that brings with it.

Oh definitely, that is why I say it will definitely be built… the investors , long term, have too much to lose.

Why would they go on the Park? They'll probably just build a bigger Kop, incorporating everything new learnt about safe-standing and get the capacity up to 70k+ once the transport infrastructure issues have been addressed.

There is no chance of our public transport infrastructure being able to move 80,000 people to and from Anfield. No chance whatsoever. We live in a country that simply doesn't do public transport and even if we did, as a failing middle ranked provincial city we would be at the back of the queue for such enormous investment.

80,000 is a third more than the biggest ever crowd that has ever attended a game at Anfield, and that was back in the 60's when their support was still local and most supporters walked up from Netherfield Road and surrounding areas.

yes, once other developers see it going up, the interest and price of land in the area will go crazy due to the stadium build, it will be a focal point

That's why I stopped short at 70k+, I don't believe that is a massive leap from their current 62k proposals with some room to spare in their transport plan. I'm not sure how Anfield's record attendance is relevant tbh. Goodison has had near 80k on its own several times and is only a few hundred metres away. The grounds have also had many 80k+ combined attendances over the years on cup weekends..... but again, it's all slightly irrelevant beyond vague historic precedents. If a place like old Trafford can have the infrastructure, then there is no reason why inner city Liverpool couldn't with some proposals for extending Merseyrail, loop lines, trackless trams etc. So who knows what the future holds for public transport in the city region.
