New Everton Stadium

It's frustrating to be back at square one, but I've always been content to just wait it out until Kenwright and his cronies are gone before starting anything.

He showed what he thinks the club is worth when they unveiled Kirkby.

Mate, for us foreigners, can you please explain where exactly Liverpool Waters is?
Are we talking prime city centre?

If its the right part of Liverpool waters its absolutely Prime location. Could in fact prove to be more prime than the Kings Dock site as potential location could be right next to the proposed Cruise Liner Terminal, from which, if proven to be viable and built, will once again start the transatlantic journeys by Cunard. It could be come one of the most photographed views in the world.

If Peel let us build a stadium as part of their plan it would be perfect but I'm not convinced they'd want that. It's a shame to be back to square one but WHP shouldn't have been available anyway, the same way Stanley Park should have never been offered to Liverpool. There's enough land around the city to not have to build on public parks.

The 'development opportunities' in Joe's area are:
  1. Kingsway Industrial Park
  2. Ogdens Factory
  3. Georges Road
  4. Bankhall Street (near station)
  5. Derby Road/Forth Street (near station and docks)
  6. Sandhills (near station)
  7. Great Howard Street (docks)
See this PDF

Looking at the options on the PDF, going off size and location, I would say Sandhills would be the best option, though I haven't seen it in the flesh. The ogdens site is big, but looks far out of the centre on a map to me. Based on the fact that the bestway site was listed previously as just big enough to fit a stadium in, I have discounted any site smaller than that, Bestway could be a goer. It would just need a clever design and solid backing from the council.... Oh wait.... Never mind!

I`m not convinced anything will happen before 2026!!! We still have the same incompetent members on the board...

Cant believe all these clubs getting new stadiums with much bigger capacities bringing in more revenue whilst our board sit around and expect it to just fall in to their lap. It`s just not going to happen!

The binning off of WHP also sees the binning of the 'retail enabler' model that Elstone et al have been chasing since the days of Kirkby.

The fact that we're seemingly no longer hamstrung by this thought process (which in trun was driven by the lack of funding options), means that there's a whole host of sites that could be used solely for a stadium development, as opposed to a huge retail / housing project plus stadium scheme.

Ogdens is being developed into flats by LMH isn't it?

Bestway, no. Ridiculous site. Absolutely ridiculous. Far too small, and it'd be far too congested.

Sandhills - Definitely!! Nowhere, but nowhere else should be considered (Apart from a revamp Of Goodison, of course)

Alternative plans for new Everton FC stadium
May 16, 2016

Liverpool City Council and Everton Football Club can confirm they have been working together over recent months to investigate alternative plans for a new stadium for Everton Football Club.

These new plans no longer focus on Walton Hall Park but on two other potential sites brownfield sites within the city boundary.

The proposed scheme at Walton Hall Park was always an ambitious one. It was a regeneration scheme that relied heavily on retail investment into the site. Most of the current investment into retail is focused on city centres and larger district centres and not on out-of-town developments like this would have been.

Mayor Joe Anderson said: “Most people will be aware that I did give a commitment to Everton to support a potential scheme at Walton Hall Park with the aim of regenerating the area and creating new jobs. However, through the work that the Club and the council have done, we have concluded that effectively building a new village in North Liverpool with lots of retail space is a step too far in this current economic climate.

“On the subject of the park itself, I can now say that the park will remain a park and will be designated as such in our Local Plan which will be out for consultation this summer.”

The Council and the Club are now working together to explore a stadium solution on a brownfield site in the city.

Robert Elstone, Chief Executive of Everton Football Club said: “Our work with the council, particularly over the last few months, has been positive and progressive and whilst our work evaluating the alternatives is at an early stage, we are hopeful that the new sites provide us with a much more straightforward, deliverable opportunity to build a new stadium.”http://www.liverpoolexpress.co.uk/alternative-plans-for-new-everton-fc-stadium/?platform=hootsuite
