New Everton Stadium

Obviously it won't be the case for everyone but (purely anecdotally) I think significantly more people will walk from town to BMD than they do to Goodison. It may not be much closer in terms of the actual distance covered but it's a much more straightforward walk, and it certainly 'feels' closer to the centre. If a few bars and places open up on that route for the journey to be broken up a bit then I think there will be a big increase in the amount of people who walk up.
An issue that I see that may arise from this is the weather - it can be quite treacherous and exposed down there in the winter and many may not want to walk it.

A subsidiary station between Sandhills and Moorfields, perhaps just open on match days like they often do in Germany, would be a big helping hand.

Lots of people are going to leave BMD and due to the distance may head towards a station that potentially won't be able to cope with the increased demand.

Given the fact that we don't do public transport the way they do in Germany, I doubt we'll be getting a new station anytime soon (but it is needed, I agree). I think what would be more likely is a redesign of the entrance to Sandhills and some kind of a canopy to keep the rain off fans who are queueing to get on to a train after the match. I think that would be a good idea.

I think I read some of the food and drink outlets at BMD would remain open post match to help to delay a mass departure ?
Sandhills would need a lot of organisation and corralling of queues plus a few extra trains on matchdays. This seems to be beyond Merseyrail though , they don't bother to put on extra trains from Kirkdale on Sundays when it's only a 30 minute service. The position of Sandhills isn't really suitable for anyone going into town or South Liverpool . By the time you walk to Sandhills and wait for a train you could walk into town.
An intermediate station is the ideal solution but I have not heard about any plans to build one or even where it might be.

Does anyone know when the stands will start to go up ?

Search for construction management plan here.... around page 10/11 you can see visuals of how it looks at each stage and the timeline.

So there is a 6 month gap between these two images, by the end of the summer at the latest it will look like the image below. The structure goes up really quickly, but the fitout and piping and HVAC and all that will seem like its taking an eternity.

Sandhills is literally around the corner FGS. There is no need for another station 200 yards up the track.
It's no nearer than kirkdale is to GP.... a new station in Vauxhall would at least serve Vauxhall/Eldonian, the 10 streets and Liverpool waters developments and would be roughly halfway between Sandhills and Moorfields. It would add greater platform space, splitting the fans going north and south. Movement of away fans might also be an issue.

That's true, but a station is needed at the halfway point between Moorfields and Sandhills for other reasons. It's a distance of 1.5 miles and if the development of the area they call Ten Street takes place and footfall and population increases, then a station there makes perfect sense. I think it will happen, but maybe not for 10 years.

What is HVAC? Thanks.

It wouldn't work, you can't have a station that close, for a train to travel such a short journey it would have to go too slow, stopping distances on trains are a lot longer then cars and buses.
Plus the economic side won't work, millions to build a new station because a few 1000 are too lazy to walk an extra 300 yards, it's not happening

There are loads of stations very close to each other including Merseyrail literally the next stops down from Sandhills.

And we're talking about inclusivity for all meaning the elderly and disabled as well as factoring in the weather conditions. It's disingenuous to suggest this is all about active, healthy people being lazy.

Yeah but how many people are we talking? 500 maybe? Merseytravel have been talking for years about opening a station in the baltic, which would get a lot of passengers everyday, not just 25ish times a year. That talk has been going on for years, but nothing has happened, nobody is going to fund a station 200 yards from another ahead of that project.

Wallasey Grove Rd to Wallasey Village is about 250 m away.
