New Everton Stadium

Thanks for pointing that out. That puts it into perspective. That's also without even mentioning that the facilities on the concourse will be 10 times better than what we have now, bars, cafes, toilets etc

Indeed. The new ground will be far superior in every way…..

So basically the new stadium is not going to generate the atmosphere which everyone was told was one of the biggest and most important aspects of the new build. The home stand is barely any bigger than the one at Goodison too.

With this in mind I think I would just prefer to stay at Goodison. Its hardly much to look forward to now if it's just going to be an average soulless new stadium. I was expecting something like the new Spurs stadium but with everything focused on atmosphere.
It's up to the fans to create the atmosphere every game, not just when we are in trouble,
Hope they have learnt.

Yeah. You couldn't move in there most of the time and the official attendance figures were laughable. But there's 2 that stick in my mind more than any other. I think it was AC Milan in the Uefa Cup when Gary Jones ran rings round them and got his shirt ripped off his back and Mick Bernard got sent off. Official attendance 32,000 I think. It was rammed. But the one above all others was the Bayern Munich game. I was in the Enclosure and I've been less crushed in the middle of the Gwladys. I think the official was either 49 or 51,000. There was more like 65,000 in there that night. I've never known anything like it.

Best night of my footballing life!

Ive said it many times on here and other places, nothing will match it, was Spine Tingling that Bayern match!

Lets hope BMD (yes @davek ) will have nights like it

Hahaha, I took my father in law to a GP game against Leeds I think, at least 55K inside, absolutely rammed, then they announced about 39,000….
I remember hearing an interview with one of the 80s players saying they'd often kick off with Club Secretary Jim Greenwood. A lot of the players had an 'attendance bonus' on a sliding scale in their playing contracts. So a packed Goodison announced as 32k was quite a bitter pill.

If imagine the main motivation to downplay numbers was for tax avoidance.
