New Everton Stadium

Cant it just be this Dave:

They needed structural support via a Truss(not a great option given what the Tories are seeing?), so as a nod to Leitch and the History of Goodison they used these designs? Why does it have to be some conspiracy that got Meis the gig or he was "sucking up to the Fans", when ultimately his previous designs have been great and this fitted what Everton were looking for?

To be fair Bob the Builder could have designed it for me, it would not make one iota of difference if it turns out to be as classy as this is now looking!

There will be many occurrences over the next 18 months or so that will lead to criticism from many quarters, justified if it really has an impact but in all honestly mostly just [Poor language removed] swinging for no reason other than to garner reactions on a forum.

For the last time @davek just embrace it and stop the Victor bloody Meldrew, every time something doesn't meet your exacting but quite bizarre view of it!

It is a thing of beauty, one could say the 8th Wonder of the World or the Fourth Grace!

It's nothing to do with being Victor Meldrew. It's about not wasting an opportunity to embrace a futuristic design and leave the nineteenth and twentieth century behind-which is where many of our supporters prefer to remain.

….we all need to respect your view. No matter what’s posted, you won’t change your opinion and those of us who really like these links with the past won’t change ours.

i love the Dock wall and i love the ‘crosses’. They are in scope and will be part of the build. Lovely.

End of story.

Good luck with that mate. If you dont like every single nut and bolt on this build they say you're against it.

Strange people.

I like it just fine - because of the location mostly.

Meis thought he was being clever and clearly trying to curry favour with the 'fanbase' to get the gig.

Let's have it right, if there were no such 'truss' design anywhere on this new stadium absolutely no one would give a flying one about it.

That was a conceit of the architect that was whizzed through on the nod of a handful of divvies who are as representative of Evertonians as the Fan Advisory Board.
The fact that this winds you up so much is really quite amusing to be honest mate. I’d hazard a guess that the vast majority of match going fans will be either happy with, or at the very worst neutral, to the incorporation of the design.

You’re of course entitled to your opinion, but from what I can tell, this is just another (of your many) weird hills for you to pitch your flag and die on ??‍♂️

It doesn't wind me up. I see it as a bizarre use of imagery at a futuristic stadium.

It's like Corbusier imprinting into the concrete structures he built the design of pyramids or neo-classical columns. It just doesn't make sense and takes the look off the build.

Meis has just added what he thought would be a popular signature to the stadium. He was wrong to do so. Dead wrong.

My take fwiw, is what I posted years ago, (it seems) when the design was first shown. It is futuristic, but Meis has completed the trick to make it so, but also looking like it has been there for ages. If that includes a nod to our past, with a few bricks, *shrugs*. No one will notice them after a few months anyrate.

Almost certain that the fanbase voted overwhelmingly to have some sort of link to Goodison in the new Stadium.

The fanbase sing a song Dave, it has the words "And if you know your history", I would suggest you take a few days off from the forum and learn ours.

I don’t like the design tbh. I don’t like the roof. The stadium itself is fine, I love the brickwork, I love the patterns and what we are doing with the pump house, but I really dislike the roof as it will look dated within 10 years.…….
