New Everton Stadium

no-one cares about history or tradition anymore.......that's why we need a whole new revamp like i said earlier. No Arch Leith stuff or Z Cars

Absolute nonsense.

No one sacks of their heritage, especially institutions like football clubs. The Archie Leith design cues could be used to influence future design, no one is saying it just needs to be replicated.

I care about history and tradition!

What we need is a blended mix - state of the art - the best feasibly availalable - but not forgetting our roots.

If you forget who you are and where you come from - you tend to turn into a bit of a tosser.

No reason why we can't have a balanced approach.

Just asked 3 blues in work, all under 20 and none of them had a clue about what the design was and who done it.

Stop living in the past.

This is the kind of thing that I was talking about a bit earlier. We have to have a nod to the past and the area where we are from. Otherwise we might as well just move out of town and leave everything behind. How About Croxteth FC, and leave all the trophies, and history in the bin, I mean, who cares, my 3 year old doesn't have an inherent grasp of what Everton have won and when, and he's the future, right...... No point whatsoever in teaching him about the past and letting him ingratiate himself into the rich past of a club, cause once the seasons over, you might as well just start again.

A new stadium with ancient decor/design will be awful imo. It may mean something to some fans but it means nothing to me and i've been watching us for 35 years plus. Yes it looks nice when you watch on TV but is it needed on a spanking new stadium i think not.

I agree, this does seem like a sensible approach

You seem to be confusing designing with a respectful view of the past, with picking up the main stand and sticking it in a different place.

The Archie Lieth design can actually be incorporated in many different ways, not necessarily as a stand detail, it could be within the webbing supports for the cantilever roof, it could be as an almost watermarked detail within the concourse outlet worktops, it could be the tiling arrangement in the WC's.

Those that have knowledge of these little details at Goodison will understand what it is, and how it links the new site back to Goodison. Those that have no idea, will just be kept dry by it, fed over it or lean on it.

To the people who are unaware of the past, its inclusion has no bearing, but to those who appreciate it, its inclusion is a must.

As long as it doesn't up costs of build or effect the modern looks who cares.............it will never be a must have for me but i expect it will to some i suppose.............lets stick a church behind the dugouts too LOL
