New Everton Stadium

I think there are ways to pay subtle homage to Goodison in some of the interior design & fitting out but modern stadium construction is totally different so the functional design needs to be the very best you can do today.

This would actually be the best homage to Goodison's true legacy, do something unique, ground-breaking, the first of its kind. Simply 'replicating' aspects of Goodison would be a backward-looking sentimental irrelevance at a time when we badly need the club to rediscover the desire to be the best, the first, the one others copy.

You seem to be confusing designing with a respectful view of the past, with picking up the main stand and sticking it in a different place.

The Archie Lieth design can actually be incorporated in many different ways, not necessarily as a stand detail, it could be within the webbing supports for the cantilever roof, it could be as an almost watermarked detail within the concourse outlet worktops, it could be the tiling arrangement in the WC's.

Those that have knowledge of these little details at Goodison will understand what it is, and how it links the new site back to Goodison. Those that have no idea, will just be kept dry by it, fed over it or lean on it.

To the people who are unaware of the past, its inclusion has no bearing, but to those who appreciate it, its inclusion is a must.

Yeah I reckon you're spot on. The actual ironwork should be transferred wherever we end up but may not form part of the stand decor as it presently does as all modern stadia have LED sponsor displays as we should (bad as that sounds).

This Leith thing, is it basically the criss-cross pattern? A pretty regulation design format that you'll probably find in many large constructions, it's a basic bracing pattern. I'm quite sure it'll find its way into the construction one way or another.

The blue and white criss-cross design where the one of the yellow 'Aviva' advertising strips are on here would be a subtle touch, but would make a new stadium very 'Everton'.

The idea of a stadium in the docks makes me nearly wee in excitement. It'd be so boss.

I've been led to believe that this sort of reaction is adding to the delay in announcing a waterfront stadium. The Environment Agency have expressed real concern that the amount of sex wee from blues and tears from the pond life across the park that will flow into the royal blue mersey when the annoncement is made could upset the delicate eco systems reliant on the river.

This is Everton. We all know that as the days are counting down to our glorious new waterfront stadiums opening game global warming will suddenly kick in overnight "the day after tomorrow" style, raising the Mersey and flooding our new ground.......................... and in a bizarre twist of fate also somehow managing flood the whole Stonebridge Cross area.

I'm almost more anxious about the stadium than the new manager.

The influence of the next manager could last 3-5 years.

The influence of the stadium would be decades.

Hope we hear something soon.
