New Everton Stadium

Come on, mate..... You cant go posting stuff like this.

Blind panic is the mood here regarding getting to and from Bramley Moore.

Not blind panic at all.... just some reservations based on local knowledge, the club's history regarding public transport claims and the fairly sketchy transport information that has been offered thus far. (Unless I've missed a revised transport plan). There are some similarities with the Perth stadium, but some major differences too.

As the contributor stated.... Perth stadium benefits from multiple EXISTING public transport services allowing dispersal in ALL directions. It has its own bus terminus and a 6 platform station that serves several lines covering the bulk of the city's suburbs. It is also a shorter distance from the city centre transport hubs with dedicated shuttle routes and has a pedestrian bridge, crossing the adjacent river to access further public transport hubs/routes there. Public transport is also included in ticket prices.

Regardless....No-one is panicking or saying it can't be done....

We are going to need a much improved shuttle service at the new stadium. The current Soccerbus is a joke as there are just not enough of them. They are usually already full up if you don't leave the match before the end. You mentioned before that there is a shortage of drivers and buses available at weekends. Do you think there is any way of resolving this?

We don't have multiple existing options, there are a couple of buses that go near it and a train station a 5 minute walk away. The stadium does have a dedicated train station which is operational on game days.

Also, we don't have car parking anywhere near the stadium which pretty much means everyone has to use public transport, which at the time was a major shock as Perth is a city designed for cars, but everyone is used to it now.

The bus bays after the game are brilliant - a constant stream of buses going everywhere. I assume that is what you mean by the 6 platform station, because the train station only has two platforms - one to the city and one away from it.

But it is a great set up and makes going to and from the game so easy, and is a great case study for any other new stadium looking at how to move people quickly and effectively

I'll be changing my journey mode once we move. It helps with having the extension of the Merseyrail network due to the Class777 capabilities. Means that I'll be right on the Northern Line, so fairly direct. MerseyRail Travel inclusion with a season ticket would be massively welcomed, but the extra convenience may just about do it anyway. Still a big challenge for at least the next decade or so though getting all the people out and about quickly and safely, but not insurmountable.

Kopite in simpleton shocker....

He's kopite x1000. Was going on about how relegation would be good for us, I said - 'not sure, we've never been relegated.' Then was gloating about beating United - 25 mins after losing to Bournemouth. I said 'all teams have off days, Villa beat you lot 7-2', so he said 'yeah but we beat them 4-0 in the home game'

It was 2-0 not 4-0 I delighted in informing him.

Did you tell him that Anfield is further away from the city centre?

Told him that. He disagreed.

Thanks for that detail. I remembered reading about the stadium when it was getting built and friends have since told me bits about the transport etc. As with the Perth example, the key for BMD is good public transport, getting people to and from the city centre, to shift the bulk of the fans most efficiently and not gridlock the roads with cars. A similar level of car usage as currently seen at GP would probably overwhelm the new site, which in turn could stifle shuttle bus operation due to limited number of roads available.
