New Everton Stadium

Force owners to clear to the agreed amount of debt at the start of each season. That way if they want to sink the money in they can and club's don't get caught up in situations like us and Leicester where we are so hamstrung it could actually cause financial meltdown through the team's performance.

That was pretty much what i was trying to say, but wasn't sure how it would work in practice.

Moshiri wrote off a load of debt when he first arrived.... then a few years later converted a good chunk of further debt to equity. My understanding is that's only ok if at least the equivalent value has been added in the process.

We shouldnt want to bring clubs down to our level, we should aspire to be on their level.

Leicester are a perfect example why that doesn't work, if you have all the inherent advantages it doesn't matter if you have another team that has a flash in the pan season (or few). All those top clubs have HUGE multi year kit and sponsorship deals and more often than not European football. For us to get to that point you are talking about having to win the title or at least something year on year until the big corporations go do you know what we can sponsor these for half the price of utd and get similar exposure. Can you see us doing that?

To bring it back on topic the new stadium helps bridge some of that gap but even so Utd, RS, Spurs, City, Arsenal, Chelsea will still gap us year on year just through what their stadium/matchday income generates.

Newcastle will probably get around it by creating kit manufacturers and other brands to bring in the kind of sums the other clubs do. There is nothing fair about this battle and the only way to limit the ever increasing gap would be to put in controls that still afford the successful clubs an advantage but not allow a two tier division within a division where you know the winner will be Rangers or Celtic before the start.

We aint doing it with our current owners mate.

We will need a game changer to do anything from now on.

I don't think we can bridge that gap ever unless we are owned by a country that can make up income or the rules are dropped and we can get a Jack Walker scenario just as the other clubs have eased off.

And if you are going to do this, then you need to scrap relegation and promotion also.

Unless you really think a club like United should spend as much as Luton Town each season.

Thanks for growing your business over the last 100 years, but now it’s time to go play in League One.
Are you saying it wouldn’t be fair if Luton could spend the same as Man Utd in case the latter gets rejected?

Are you really saying this?????

I think it is doable, but you have to stick to the plan and manage expectations. Unfortunately we have had to tear the plan up every couple of years and sometimes bi-annually with some of the management choices, their player choices and the crazy wages we have paid out for contracts. Even some new major owner with cash to spend doesn't improve the health of this club presently. We will just go on as we have the last few seasons. Spending lots and achieving nothing.

I think we have got a couple of tough years in order to get us back on to an even keel and that means getting the finances under control as a priority and somehow staying in the division.

Not disputing, my brain and others maybe just need a thread with some positivity and it's hijacked by stuff that belongs elsewhere.

Maybe like the FFP Fair Play one?

Just a thought.

Don't think FFP is connected to the Stadium per se. Whereas P&S could be.

Most threads have cross-over issues.
