New Everton Stadium

At 9:08 would those stacks of flags actually be covering for the steps there? Really hope so. I’m sure it’s been mentioned on here that people think they would be left as raw concrete but that grey marble effect would look class!
I can't see them paying the attention to detail they have across the rest of the site, pitchside/stairwell/walkway balustrades matching the barrel cladding, the blue glass paving to represent where the dock was, the Leitch design on benches, railings etc, for them to just have bare concrete steps on the main entrance to our shiny new home.
Expect it to be the similar to the rest of the site.

Good spot, they look about the correct dimensions (rotated 90 deg)
Would defo be better than bare concrete.

As far as i can tell from the Planning Docs, these are going to be left as they are. I could be wrong, but i've seen nothing to suggest that they will be clad in any way.

As an aside, the club submitted a Non-Material Amendment application last year. In it they changed the proposed surfacing beneath the western terrace to Asphalt (Tarmac) and they also changed the paving between the railway tracks in the eastern plaza to an exposed aggregate concrete.

The change to asphalt under the western terrace was, i expect, primarilly cost saving on the basis that this area was under cover and hidden from view.

The change to concrete from reclaimed setts between the railway tracks on the eastern plaza is a temporary thing. They are intending to install more of the engraved granite paving here in the future, like they have done along the south stand. That's no doubt why these are now for sale...

I love watching all the update videos of this amazing new stadium and kudos to all the lads involved.
However as with any construction of this scale there are bound to be a few personal bugbers. The different shades of roofing strips for example, allthought within a few years in our weather they should all fade to a similar colour. Also you can already see the areas where the seagulls are going to leave plenty of souvenir white stains behind, so obviously this will have to be addressed somehow. But what really stands out, or doesn't for that matter, is the brickwork Leitch pattern. The tone between the standard red bricks and the darker shade to reveal the pattern does not contrast enough. This is a real design miscalculation and dissapoints me every time I look at it.
I don't know it it's been mentioned before or if there are any plans for it but there are ways to remedy the situation. It's possible to permanently tint the bricks a darker shade to make them stand out as originally planned and there are companies that specialise in this process.
I don't know if anyone at Everton or Laing O'Rourke have considered this option but it would seem an obvious one to me.

If I had the dough I’d defo be buying those cobbles up for my drive way.
Id be made up having a drive made with the stones from where our stadium is. 😋

I’m never sure if that’s just a trick of the eye due to digital drone cameras or if it’s really that subtle.
In some of the still photography it’s really quite clear imho, so not sure if there’s areas where is more obvious (and likely a manufacturing issue) or just the dynamic range of the camera losing detail.

It all depends on focus and resolution. Sometimes they can just pop out at you on a drone vid all of a sudden, then as quickly disappear.

They are definitely far more 'subtle' than I expected from the renders.

It's a bit disappointing that the terrace steps may be left concrete. All that effort elsewhere, with stones, and patterns, to leave it seems a poor decision.

This is the clearest picture I've found showing the pattern and how poor it contrasts even column to column.

I was thinking a lot of them might be covered in dust, hence the discolouration from column to column. A lot of them were lying flat on the floor over a number of days with a lot of work getting down around them.

If we all get our power washes on them and see if they scrub up well, we'll know for sure!
