New Everton Stadium

Yes mate, that's true - the Spurs buildings works started in summer of 2015 prior to the final planning approval in December 2015.

Using a similar time frame would see us opening for the 2020/21 season. I suppose if everything went super quick it might be the previous season but that would be extra-ordinarily optimistic.
We can get the guys that built Wembley back over there to speed it up.........

Come on mate that's ridiculous, expectations have never been higher. Re the stadium it's very likely to be 2020/21 before we moved into a new stadium at earliest.
As always, The Esk comes in quietly under the radar with sagacious, eloquently phrased words which ease troubled minds. Yes, we all want things done quickly, but not at the expense of things being done badly. This is a one off utterly unique period in the history of this great footballing institution and plans must not processed without considering all options. We are blessed to have the snippets from The Esk, and while not giving all the facts, gives more than enough to generate a real excitement that everything is progressing in a proper and professional manner.
Being pragmatic is not being pessimistic, it more a goal to reach optimism effectively, as the best way to achieve the best is to pay attention to the small details.

Same applies to The Cantril Farm site.

Not too many options in the City that Impinge less and deliver more than the Dock site.
Nearer the City Centre the better is the collective wisdom and I go along with this...and me a die in the wool Renovate Goodison man.

What Cantril Farm site??? I used to live in that hellhole in the 1970s. Is it a site now??

Large infrastructure projects take time to complete from concept to completion. A stand alone house would typically take a year from concept, to draughting, to planning, to tendering and then to construction. A project of the magnitude of a football stadium in a major urban site would have to take four or five times that. Considering there was nothing being planned by the club up until 6 months ago I'd guess we are a fair few years off.

It's just great that we have genuinely started the process.

We have been looking at new stadium designs for a number of years , unfortunately we could never afford the cost.
I think that we probably have a very good idea of what we need in the stadium , facilities , capacity etc. These issues are crucial and I would think the length of any new project will be shorter because of all the information that is already researched.

We need a venue, a design , costings and of course planning. I would again expect that planning and costing are largely concurrent and we have seen posts already where costings have been sought for some building materials.
If/when a deal for a site is confirmed I think we will see real progress.
Spurs were similar, they had been ready for long to build a new stadium , when they finally got the opportunity it was able to race ahead.

Sorry mate, that kind of language is not acceptable on here!

I lived there in 68 I think it was - Steers Croft - I thought it was great (Besides the running battles between the different parts) Hot running water and central heating. Moved there from Kirkdale when they started to clear it.

Terret Croft here (moved from West Derby Rd area - a nice terraced house, demolished by the maniacal "planners"). Bleak housing estate, deserved its notoriety.
So: is it a site?

I drove through it a few months back looking for my old block, which was a two storey maisonette, its no longer there. Everything is single storey. I think its called Stockbridge Village now isnt it? Must admit I loved it there, probably because of all the mod cons. Still went to school off Scottie Road though and I had a bus pass. (A real one) My mum hated it though, had loads of fights on the veranda with our new neighbours and we eventually moved to Walton near the Royal Oak........

Cantril Farm was a nightmare for us - we had the mod cons (apart from central heating) in our cosy terraced house anyway.

I was just shocked to see it suddenly mentioned in this thread, out of nowhere, as a site. It has brought on some nasty flashbacks...I am assuming it was quoted as a random example - the thought of my beloved Blues moving near there doesn't bear thinking about!

Wasn't it harder because of resisential the railway line and the river mate
That made it more technically difficult (the ralways line). It's where its situated really that held it up, it's a fairly salubrious part of Dublin around it. Lots of judges and influential people live within a Tim Howard kick out of the ground and they wanted it moved to a greenfield site, which was never going to happen.

It was also difficult during construction as there was very tight restrictions on when it could start and had to finish each day. Getting materials to the site was also complicated.

The river didn't cause any issues as it's about 200 yards from the stadium
