New Everton Stadium

I was thinking about it the other day and it's stated they had 62k for a Taylor Swift gig. The stage was in front of the new AR stand so it must mean they had 16 and a bit thousand on the pitch.

If we applied the same (especially given our bigger pitch size) then we could get a 60k capacity.

Seems a strange decision tha, considering they get the same on teh pitch regardless of stand they were in front of, but would lose 4k less if keeping the AR end for ticket sales. Maybe their restriction is planning allowances and people movement. If they can't have more than 62k, then they'd not want an empty seat in view. Maybe means they could potentially get more on the pitch..... maybe.

I also think there is a bit of 'we cannot not use the Kop'. Be interesting to know like you say are they capped anyhow.

Sheeran's averaging almost 80k a venue mate, as sad as it is.
Springsteen is 60-70k, which is obviously still A LOT.

They are at the top of their game for sure and I'm not saying they're not ffs, but I'm talking about current year relevance, not how good they are. In 2024 a Springsteen concert is unlikely to be as marketed/marketable as a Sheeran/Swift one, which is a bit sad, but it is how it is.

Think of it this way - to know Springsteen's concerts, you gotta know and follow him a bit more, which is fine. I don't give a toss about Sheeran and Swift, yet they (and their concerts) get talked about on every social media outlet there is, you feel me? I've seen more Taylor Swift concert pictures on TV/news outlets than I'd want to for a lifetime, just this year, annoyingly.

We need both to prove it to be as marketable as possible obviously, and would do well to do that. However, Springsteen/Joel aren't even a missed opportunity as such as I'm willing to bet we can't even go into contact to secure them (or anyone else) at BMD currently as it's more or less impossible to guarantee anything right now. Which was my point to begin with really, but all of ye old farts* popped up to tell me how amazing grandad Bruce is FFS

(* jk, love you all x)
Not everyone who listens to music is a social media using pre pubescent schoolgirl like you. They make up a tiny percentage of concert going fans.
You'll understand when youre older 😂

Btw, this old fart would still bum you to death.
Twice on a Sunday. 😘

In all honestly, I think the Everton Stadium is a branding opportunity for the club that shouldn't be missed. Therefore, if there is a naming rights deal, I hope it is something like The Toyota Everton Stadium. Of course, The Everton Stadium with Toyota would be hilaruously pretentious.

I think we should fundamentally refer to it as The Everton Stadium. Sponsors come and go. Renaming stadia every decade dilutes the branding of the club and its arena. "The Etihad" and "The Emirates" proves that. The City of Manchester Stadium has been forgotten about, as has Ashburton Grove - possibly for good reason in both cases, certainly the latter. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a stronger brand name for that club. Obviously, that hasn't sold naming rights yet, but The Toyota Tottenham Hotspur Stadium works too.

If the Yanks really want to reach into our history and add a bit of Americana, they could always call it Toffeeopolis. The Toyota Toffeeopolis has a nice ring to it, even a little va-va-voom, some might say.

Fantastic stuff, and hopefully more people that love them can go see them - but it's not the same pull as any of the currently globally famous (even Oasis included, even though I personally hate them).

You want a big name for a big concert to fill a big stadium, as that will generate all the hype and everything to go with it, and I'm sorry but both Springsteen and Billy Joel are no longer that. They'll have demand for sure, legendary musicians in the own right, but they're 75 years old and it's just not the same, and I doubt they'd be filling 50k there which is what we should be going for.

As much as I hate these types of acts myself (and would probably prefer Springsteen between them ) - Oasis, Taylor Swift, stuff like that will generate a lot more and catch a lot more eyes to showcase the stadium.
As a fresh example locally to me - over the summer locally we had rock classics like Judas Priest, metal artists like Megadeth, Corey Taylor (solo work), a random Andre Bocelli concert, yet what is the gig of the year and had people camping outside the stadium and in the park was Ed Sheeran, that is still talked about, a month afterwards, as the biggest one in ages. We need more of the Sheeran-type than the Legends-type, basically, which I know will rub people the wrong way as I also dislike it, but makes more marketing sense... provided we can drag them to us obviously.

As for the price - all the old rock bastards can do one. Wanted to go see Sabbath in Glasgow all those years ago for their crap God is Dead album and the knobheads were charging something like 130 quid for the worst 'seats' in the venue. ACDC likewise. Love them but FFS it's like they forgot it's supposed to be the everyman's music.

But yeah, as someone else above said, we'll play matches and stuff before we host events anyway as there's likely too much risk (and red tape) to rush into that.
Springsteen at Anfield will be sold out in half an hour
