New Everton Stadium

Not commenting on the accuracy or otherwise of this, but a sponsor's name like that would never stick.

It's one thing referring to "The Etihad" or "The Emirates" or "The AMEX" or whatever... but "The Bank of America" is not something any Evertonian would say.

It's too wordy, and can't be abbreviated. Even "The BOA" is clumsy to say with two vowels at the end.

Whatever it is needs to be easier to say than "Bramley Moore" - or that's what it will always be.
It'd just be known to us and many others as Bramley Moore, some clubs lower down have had different names for the ground, Bolton springs to mind

Wondering how much we will be getting from this, apparently Barca get 5mill a season from Spotify

. Even 10 mill be a start no as high as we would have wanted but could have a shorter length deal to then be adjusted

I do think that theres caveats with the stadium though, every cruiseliner into the docks will see it, its on a highly photographed waterfront.

If it was JUST the sports, I get it, we arent in Europe or on the telly as much as others - however, there is more to it then just sports for us.

£10m 10 year deal, for the stadium alone is £100m more in the bank then we had so I can live with.

I imagine with Stake going though itll be much more and a combined deal.

Come on mate, theirs looks like Coventry, Stoke, Stadium of light perhaps.

If someone said ours looked like this then I'd agree...

And just to show it's not seat colour dependant:

The common theme is none of those look like the Riverside.

A nice selection, and they are quite comparable in most respects, but they are all probably slightly superior to BMD on some metrics. They all have a closing roof for starters. Shalke's also has a moving pitch, so is far more flexible. Zenit's stadium is also much bigger with almost 70k seats, nearly 50k in the upper tier and over 100 boxes. Shalke over 60k (with standing) over 60boxes. Dusseldorf is possibly the closest in capacity 54k.

One thing I would say is BMD is looking like a really elegant stadium combining 'old' with new in a well-designed, sleek way. It's coming along beautifully.

Whilst Zenit's stadium is the fugliest stadium built this century with horrifically overblown architecture and laughably tacky faux-classical entrances just to add to the awfulness. 🤮

I quite like the classic greco-soviet spaceship shopping centre look myself
