For a bit of fun I was able to add 9 more rows and extend the corners up a touch, whilst keeping the roof the same. It's roughly 4m taller with an extra capacity of around 2500.

Of course it would mean we lose the reflection from Nelson dock with the glass vertical.

Whether the supporting structure can take the extra weight is a different conversation altogether.

Excuse my very crude annotation but I wonder if the Area Under the South Stand (red) would be utilised if it was ever extended. It could be a useful place for additional concessions, conference areas etc.
Additionally the South Bar could also be extended out (blue) with additional supports (yellow), to facilitate the extra fans.

Anything is possible in the long term, but short to medium term (50+ years) I can't see them trying to extend the concourse out towards Nelson dock. The red wedge you've drawn is more likely (IF they add more seats to the upper). It wouldn't use that whole space though, just a single floor on top of the current one I would imagine.

In reality, they don't need to. By all accounts there is oceans of space on the concourses. That configuration is an integral part of the design.

I think the official line I read (sorry, can't remember where) is one at 25%, one at 50% and one at 100% capacity. Sometime from late winter. Can't wait. I'd even go along to watch Everton. Oh, hang on.

In reality, they don't need to. By all accounts there is oceans of space on the concourses. That configuration is an integral part of the design.

I'm one of the lamenters. Still seems to me we might find a use for that area one day.

The dead space is there for a reason.

It’s to allow diffusion of farts away from the stand during the Boxing Day fixture.

We could set it up as a Cheese Shop just like at Spurs’ Stadium - but go one better and make it actually look like a giant block of cheddar from the exterior

Could they just not play a first team competitive fixture there? There is usually a mass exodus of fans after about the 70 minute mark, so that ought to fit the criteria nicely.
