New Everton Stadium

Patiently waiting for daveks expert view before any of these so called experts that plan, buiid and deliver a football stadium capable of holding sporting and entertainment events that generate income for years:

Anyway, hurry up Dave.
I'd like the Vaults to opened on him in regards to the months upon months of posts were he insisted this Stadium would categorically never happen.

Yet here we've are.

This is a perfect example. Near the beginning, you can see the corner of the brick cladding looking completely washed out, it’s almost white! It’s in complete contrast to the brick from the hydraulic tower. I love the idea and the design, but there’s no doubt it’s been very poorly executed here. I also disagree with recent posts here about the Leitch pattern. I thought the renders of the dark colour brick work, and the even darker coloured Leitch pattern bricks looked absolutely stunning.

There is absolutely no consistency to the colour of the brick around the stadium and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Anyone who says they can’t see it is being dishonest. Can it be remedied by some kind of brick stain?

Are people really complaining about the colours of bricks
The pitch is white as well! FFS! Can't get anything right.

Every close up shot of the bricks I've seen make them look brilliant.

I understand the concern about reto descending into pastiche design. That said, you could say that the brick and black facade is an entirely pastiche representation of a traditional Victorian warehouse. No actual example would have the number of vertical metal clad loading bays, nor would they be as irregularly spaced almost like a bar code. Yet they are the predominant retro-design feature. In the longer term, will it become facadism or tacky pastiche?

The Leitch criss-cross pattern wasn't just an aesthetic flurry on his part. They are structural elements to strengthen the front balcony truss wall and allow for fewer supporting columns (which had been a major criticism of the earlier Park End double-decker). There could have been a genuine structural homage to Leitch elseshere, which might've avoided any criticism regarded token pastiche or retro. Some might actually see some of that in some of the truss work. Also, decorative patterns in brickwork were quite common in Victorian buildings, so perhaps it could work.

PARK LIFE

Yeah, they look great up close. It's only a problem at a distance where you can see colouration differences between upper and lower panels.
They were all fitted at different times throughout the build so some will be more weathered than others.
They will all be the same in a year or two when that Mersey wind has got a grip of them
