New Everton Stadium

Latest Mr Drone stadium vid finishes with a suggestion the club might consider streaming the last home game in GP at BMD and consider this as a test event and money spinner.

Can’t say I have heard this idea floated before but it’s a damn good one. Make another Everton first happen Friedkin.
Yeah, I heard that and thought it was a such good idea that I was left wondering how the club will manage to not do it.

I really like the idea of Evertonians forming the bridge from the old to the new by being at both grounds for that match.

Could even end with the players making the journey down for a lap of honour there, too.

If the handover of the stadium and the confirmation of our new owners happen next week then it certainly is a week like no other for Everton FC.

It allows a complete reset of the club but I still don't expect radical changes when TFG take charge, at least not in the public eye.
I think changes on the board will be the most visible. I think the football side will be unaffected until the summer unless results disimprove further.

Sincerely hope not. There are many players that do not deserve to step foot inside that stadium. Thankfully most of them are out of contract before we have our first game there.

That's an interesting proposal. Raises a few possible questions. Would it be a full capacity test event? Could we fill 92k seats for such an event? Could the local authorities, transport, police resource both sites at the same time? Finally, which one would people here choose to go to....? A few people have stated that they can't wait to go..... would they happily swap their last match at GP for a glimpse of the future to watch on the big screens?

Imagine if we need to win and only 20k chose GP haha.

No. There's no chance there will be an empty seat at Goodison for the last game, so it's not going to cannibalise that.

They could easily start with 10,000 seats at BMD - and release more based on sales.

Yeah Just sell bottom Tier of East Stand to start and then expand as per demand.
If the club thinks this is a goer, I think it'll probably boil down to a police decision as to whether they can cope with tens of thousands of football fans at two locations two miles apart.

There won't be a PL broadcasting issue, I don't think, as the match will surely be televised anyway.

the issue with police will be when two big games are played in the same locality as you'd have two venues but 4 lots of fans. Which what is suggested here, there would be two venues but two lots of fans, with one set of fans located at one venue and one set at two venues. I cant see that being a big issue.

Exactly wouldn't be dissimilar from a game and a concert and the M&S Bank on the same night.

2 laps of honor for a this lot, I presume this is said sarcastically.

They’d have to make sure it wasn’t the first test event though, I can’t see it going down very well if the people who turn up every week are effectively excluded from the first event at the new stadium.

The police always err on the side of caution - and I think ultimately the idea would be their call.

It's also dependent on passing sufficient test events, of course.
