Everton would have to pay around £20m to buy the land for a potential new stadium in Liverpool's North Docks area.

The Peel Group, which owns the 15-hectare water-front site, are yet to publicly confirm whether they are willing to sell it although the land is said to command an asking price in that region.

Peel say their £5.5bn Liverpool Waters scheme, to regenerate a larger 60-hectare area incorporating the site identified for a possible Everton stadium, remains on track.

The Blues are also considering a potential site in Croxteth's Stonebridge Cross area.

In June Toffees director Sasha Ryazantsev, who was appointed to the board in March by majority investor Farhad Moshiri, reiterated the club's commitment to building a new ground.

He said: "I don’t know if project is the right word to use here, it is probably more than that.

“But of course we have the team, the performance on the pitch and with the appointment of Ronald Koeman that was the first step we had to make in that regard.

“But we have other projects, like the stadium, going forward as well and we very much want to win and be successful in whatever we do.”
