New manager

I often wonder if people actually watch football nowadays.

His football has always been about defensive first and into attack

Genuinely think people want him for two reasons, he's a household name and B, Instigated the Liverpool downfall when Gerrard fell over.

Ive never liked his football tbh. He knew how to drag a team over the line there is no denying that. But most of his sides were an eyesore to watch. He absolutely ruined the Europa league final against Sevilla as a spectacle.
I think footballs moved on a bit from his tactics.

It depends how much forward you want to look mate.
I don't think he is up to doing a large rebuilding job anymore, not the one needed here. Its a very different club now to the one he knew previously and he would never have the free reign he had under Kenwright and he notoriously doesn't like working under DoF/Sporting Directors which TFG will always have due to the backseat driving that they seem to prefer in terms of running things. Also I don't see Thewell and Moyes being a great combination either tbh, I have serious concerns with Thelwell tbh. Just time for a fresh perspective imo, something we haven't had before.

I’m in for Jose. This club needs an electric shock through it and he is a born winner. We would be in a Cup Final, at least, within 2 seasons. Alternatively, different end of the spectrum, would love Iraola. Am warming to Frank (Thomas not Lampard) but concerned about his away record.

However, if we are just looking at a short term improvement on the current incumbent, I’d opt for a balloon on a stick with a face drawn on it with a tape machine attached to it, repeating the phrases “cross the ball, have a shot” over and over. Could prop it up at the side of the pitch at Finch Farm and it would have more attacking tactical acumen than Sean Dyche.

I think Brentford scored as many in their last away game as we’ve scored away all season.

Frank would be top of my list, i think it’s doubtful he’d join and almost certainly not in January - but he would be first call I’d be making.

Mourinho has been in massive decline for years now. Would any reasonable owner recruit him based off his achievements in the last 6 or 7 years? I think he's failed at something like his last 4 jobs right?
Yet he is still a class above the loons we have had in charge, or anyone we could get right now.

…..well, he’s not got his own thread yet;

One simply doesn't appoint Jose Antonio Mourinho and ask him to steady the ship.

One appoints Jose Antonio Mourinho and gives him major money to build a squad and have us back in the upper echelons of the division.
Which is, one hopes, what the Friedkins have in mind whether or not they appoint the Dark Lord.

This club also needs a touch of showbiz - not the end of the pier stuff Kenwright peddled for years, but big budget Hollywood glamour. With the new stadium soon to be iconic, we also need an iconic manager. If we now have properly committed wealthy ownership, then we can afford to boost our profile in the short to medium term with a statement manager. If he doesn't work out, we can pivot to an up-and-coming visionary when the time comes. But, while acknowledging that the real hard work of transforming the club takes times (with a young manager), in the short term we badly need to reposition the club as a destination - not a mere stepping stone or also-ran.

Would be happy with Mourinho, but he’s been on the decline for the exact same reason that Dyche needs replacing and Benitez was dreadful - football has changed.
