New manager

We can hire Pep but if the struture is not sorted he would struggle too. Dyches time is up. I do hope TFG footballing advisor has someone in mind. Change now and it will most likely be someone out of a job Moyes/Potter. Or a manger in a lower divsion or a different league. Frank or Iraola are not coming mid season. Big decision for TFG to have to make. Looks like Dyche wont give them some time.

Given the state of our squad and position in the league don’t we need a reliable firefighter as manager, even if short term? Take Amorim for example who is having a hard time trying to figure out a solution for Man U. It could be argued Man U have got worse since Amorim’s arrival. God knows what he would make of our squad and current situation. I imagine the challenges at Everton would stretch many of the decent managers we may aspire to. Before we think of sexy football, top half of league, challenging for honours etc., we need to get to safety in this season.

Whom would you suggest as firefighter?

I see where you are coming from here and no manager is going to play expansive football with this lot but I would take the view that the relegation risk is mitigated with a different approach to that which Dyche has taken which is dire.

I don't think it's a given that a manager who could steer us to safety is going to be one that immediately falls out of favour with the fanbase straight after, and even if that were the case, they would likely insist on a minimum 18 month contract before signing.

Firefighter no idea. I think the days of appointing Allerdyce types as a fixer are over in this day and age. I would love to see the back of Dyche but I suspect TFG will appoint a new manager in the summer in the hope that Sean ‘One point a game’ Dyche gets us to safety

That was a silly move on their part due to bringing in a very special type of manager who would need certain ingredients of players to thrive , a summer move would of made more sense. I think a more versatile manager would work it's only three games and I'm definitely not saying vitor was the answer but new managers can re-invigorate teams if the right choice is made as dyche is clearly not the answer as wins will eventually be needed
This will be challenged by others but I don't think a firefighter is needed a manager that can address some issues and make us decent enough to get by unscathed while building and developing a long term evolution for the club as fire fighting just puts you in constant ground hog day situation replaying the same scenario over and over

We need someone with no ties to any of our players. No ties to Burnley for sure. Dyche’s results show when friendships get in the way and blind you to proper decision-making. When the whole world can see how you should line up and when to sub, who to bench etc… and you can’t, then you’re too close to the team and/or tactically as high as you can go. We need someone to come in, see who we’ve got, how best to arrange them, and change it as often as necessary for each situation and game. Be their coach and not their friend. The players and fans will respect it and see it.
