Newcastle look like they have an extra man on the pitch and are far more inventive, particularly at set pieces. Once we cross the halfway line, we look absolutely toothless. I'd go 4-4-2 and bring Maupay on to support Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Garner as an extra bod in midfield. Gray and Gordon give us nothing.

I think we would get over ran in midfield like last season here when we played 2 in there. I would bring Maupay on for either Gordon or Gray and try and keep the shape of a 451.

We are not creating enough in the final third, similar to the spurs game.

If anyone thinks that was a pen on Gordon is delusional. This kid needs to stop going down. Should’ve sold him to Chelsea. Will never get anything with the way he is performing this season
He got his left foot tripped up running at fast speed, how is he supposed to stay on his feet?

…..didn’t think it was too bad until they scored and got momentum.

We obviously lack threat but more of a concern is that we don’t play in the top third. We never have sustained pressure, we never have numbers in attacking positions. Suggests to me we lack blend, quality and strategy.

it would be something if we look like scoring from a corner but we don’t.

Game far from over unless they score next.
Think this is because we play with two wingers that both only know how to play one way - put their head down and run at the defender. Neither Gray nor Gordon consistently looks to combine with anybody else. Too busy trying to play hero ball. So that's 2 of our front 3 just not even playing within the team, so we can never get any sustained build up. Once either of those two get it, if it doesn't happen to be that 1% of the time where they do something spectacular, then it's the other 99% of the time where they just run around looking for a foul until they inevitably lose the ball.
