Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

This won't go the way Newcastle fans think it will.

If the Saudi's wanted to 'invest' in a football team and by 'invest' I mean have a who's got the biggest contest against the Qataris and Emiratis then they'd have just thrown their money into a club a long time ago, and there have been plenty available for sale over the past few years. Especially not have some intermediary in Stavley retaining a stake in the club.

They'll just use it as a place to hold an asset and rinse money through.

Ashley isn't selling the club to Saudi Arabia. This won't happen, it's a smoke screen to cover him not pulling the furlough of the non playing staff.

It's the same story every single time he has a issue at the club. When he is being pressured into spending money , staveley and takeover is rolled out now .

Remember kenwright doing that season renewal time every single year ?

Exactly the same thing with Ashley. He ain't selling Newcastle to the Saudis. Quote me on it.
He sure is.
In this current crisis his property empire is failing.
He will have £300m cash in his pocket and walks away with a very good profit.
Terms agreed and only thing to do is the due diligence of PL 'fit & proper' ownership issues

Saudia Arabia are offering upwards of 200m just to host the next fury fight. If they buy Newcastle they will be looking to do what city did.

Except he won't have anything really?
There paying 150mill, he's loaning them 150mill....so untill they pay that back he's actually making zilch

This reported part of the deal is what confuses me the most: why do they need to borrow money from him if they're so wealthy? Does that not raise alarm bells?

If it's some form of tax issue or to negate potential concerns regarding their ownership, there must be other concerns regarding their proposed plans for the club.

I still severely doubt that the deal will actually ever happen, but if it does then there's lots of issues that suggest it isn't going to go the way their fans may want.

The probability of them coming in and spending big and progressing is very slim to none.

Offering £200 million for a boxing fight (one of the biggest events on the planet and not wholly out of the ballpark figures) and spending the billionaires required on transfers (never mind wages) are two entirely different things.

Mate, isn't the 2006 Inter Toto Cup is the pinnacle of success?

I remember when I moved to Cumbria for my dads job when I was about 14 and everybody at school supported Newcastle. This would be peak Keegan era. Signing Shearer, finishing runners up and every year these inbred halfwits with (with no connection to Newcastle) would bang on about them being a massive club and how this was their year. And every year they'd fall short in hilarious fashion and cry about it.

Remind you of anyone?

So essentially they want to try to get Newcastle back to competing for Europe and in the top 6. That sounds about right as an ambition, pretty similar to ours, Leicester, Wolves etc. Very little about trying to do another Manchester City, or trying to buy all the best players. Read into that what you will.
