Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

A big article in the athletic this morning how fat mikes frugality over the years has created a decent profit and will would allow £150 million of spending and possibly no breach of ffp if new owners get the green light ,we get a mention about our £115 million loss not helping us .

That's basically two Siggurdson's and a Iwobi.

In other words...£150mill to spend for a club with no clout isn't gonna go far.

HUGE take here from a hilarious toon fan hiding behind the persona of Sid the Sexist ‘tits oot beer’ Sid is now woke and proves his new found feminist credentials by actually praising a woman!

A lot going on here. Not sure where to start.
What a woman Amanda Stavely is! Fighting for all the horse punching racists out there (she hates horses too). I hear that when the takeover goes through She’ll fly over the city in an airship throwing down thousands of Greggs steak bakes for us all to feast on. She’s a saint. A martyr. She loves us and we love her.
lollollollollol Five laughing emojis for you Sid, you snowflake coward. This just keeps growing. Excellent use of the Saudi flag and I do LOVE the way you have decked your avatar out in full Saudi garb. Unfortunately if Sid the sexist ever was to visit Saudi Arabia I’m not sure that his beer swilling, arse grabbing antics would go down so well. We can overlook that though. WELL DONE.

On FFP, surely it gets relaxed for a couple of years given the current state of play? Most clubs losing money in real terms so it'd be a nightmare to try and enforce, you would imagine.

Not really, as it's managing clubs finances regardless and reviewed a year behind. If you know you can spend due to whatever reason, you don't spend.

All clubs are in the same boat with that.

I didn't think the naming rights affected FFP because it was infrastructure related or some such - I may well be wrong though, I often am. Also I think @catcherintherye 's comment about FFP being overhauled is a very likely scenario if it hits the usual suspects at the top of the money tree. Either way though, I think we will have wriggle room in our spending to get the right players in for the right money. If FFP and more money is present due to the naming rights, etc. then I suspect we'll see a few decent incoming transfers.

As for Newcastle, £115million 'allowed' for spending?!? Mike Ashley is an absolutely brilliant businessman if that's the case. When other teams are up against the wall, he's got one that is still in the black. As much as it pains me to admit it, but that's the foundations for long term stability and growth even if it's not so dramatic or exciting if you are a fan. Their stadium and training ground may need updating, and their players are at best unispirational, but if the balance book is positive, eventually it'll start working out. If I was a Saudi investment fund manager, I'd want that kind of business acumen tied into the deal!

Anyway, the day is nice and the sun is out, Shearer wants Mbappe to sign up and Pochettino drops a hint about his future club having to win a trophy. Perhaps Shearer's baldy head has had too much sun and Poch is back off to Spurs? Or maybe today is the day for #cans!

I mean it's idiocy. I presume they've pitched the 115 million as the loss you can make in a single year. However the years accounting upon essentially 1/4 of the money spent + wages for that year, so in real terms would be much higher. You do have to factor in though, the likely loss Newcastle will be making (as we all will) due to no football, reduced TV payments etc.

Newcastle, like Everton as a business will not be able to spend any money. Everton can because they have an owner who will put money in and has evidenced this, overwhelmingly for 4 years. Newcastle currently have a takeover that has been rumbling on for (at least) 3 years and hasn't been ratified when it was first submitted at least 9 weeks ago. The idea then the conclusion you draw that Everton, not Newastle will be impacted is laughable.

There is no evidence beyond groundless conjecture their potential new owners will spend tonnes of money. Precadent would dictate it's quite unlikely. Remember when all the geordies were telling us Bruce would be sacked in May and Poch brought in. That it wouldn't go into June. The same ones that are telling us to ignore all the evidence before us and accept their version of events, even though they've been proven completely wrong again.

So, like with Leeds I'll wait to see what comes of all of this. I'll also maintain, without major investment this lot will be relegation favourites next season.

Have they signed him?
Did they pay £25 million for him?
Has he already become a failure without kicking a ball?
AND
Has the takeover happened yet :p?

And will a takeover that has taken 10 weeks to ratify at the point where funding was means to be shown, really going to be a transformative as people think?
