As @Chris O'Connor stated thats rubbish mate - most claimed it was either a phoney bid like Kenwrongs mate in the 1 bed flat or the Saudi's were skint.

In the end it never happened because of the piracy issue / PL stalling so they pulled it.

Change Newcastle to Man Utd or Liverpool and it likely would have been passed.

Again its alright to stick your neck out on a forum and have an opinion - im not one for sitting on the fence scared of my ego taking a bruising if im not right - thats life lid you win some you lose some.

literally on here thought it would pass, we were all buzzing off the Geordies going into overdrive. And it wouldn’t have changed no matter who the club was, the structure of the ownership was dodgy as.

And having a massive meltdown over nothing, because literally nothing happened, is not sticking your neck out; it’s called acting like a tart

Wasn't there also huge protestation from Spurs and the Kopites? They'll all have been panicking. There's no way they want another rival to the top 6...

Yes but according to some they were daft for worrying as PIF worth over £600 billion couldn't have possibly built a club up into a competitor. Not like Wolves have sprung up with Chinese state investment and had we not blown the big one we could be up there with what we've spent and wasted over the years.

It was never Kenwrights mate in a bedroom stuff, but clearly this was not top brass of Saudi Royalty either. It's either a 3rd party connected to them, or a low ranking official involved. People who are serious don't;
1) Haggle over price for months
2) Borrow money from Mike Ashley
3) Walk away because the process gets delayed
4) Clearly have problems generating funds
5) Deliberately ue things like piracy to helpprevent the sale moving forward.

They approached Liverpool and FSG laughed them off as blaggers. They were right.

The unintended consequence of this, I suspect is that no big country will ever be able to buy into the PL again. Whether we tihnk thats good or bad is up for debate, but a Qatar style city takeover will ever be allowed.

Mate lets be honest so far you have had
Newcastle
Villa
Leeds
West ham,all going to blow everybody out the league,3 of them have been awful and Leeds will not be getting billions spent,the Newcastle bid was and is all smoke and mirrors,even Stevie Wonder could see that

Nope I've said any club that gets state sponsered investment will naturally become a rival to us and that is correct.

City did and soon overtook us.

Wolves did and its fair to say at "present" have overtaken us in 2 years back in the Prem.

If Usmanov was our "official" owner fans of other clubs would have been flapping when we were takenover thats natural.

If you're a corner shop and an Asda rocks up on your doorstep you'll naturally be concerned of the competition...
